I think it's perfectly fair to say that we started yet another game on the back foot . This allows the opposition to attack us and race into a two goal lead We then manage to turn it around into a winning position before some strange managerial decisions lead to us losing a game that we were capable of winning. Fair or not? It's becoming tedious. McNulty is not learning. |

With a few notable exceptions, it's clear that the vast majority of posters are in agreement that we start games far too cautiously, which often leads to us boring the fans and allowing the opposition to attack us. Yesterday was yet another example of just this. From what I've seen, Berger is an attacking midfielder..bordering on being an attacker. Jim should not be playing him in a defensive position. Its not difficult to work out. I too would be annoyed if I were him especially as he got subbed at half time. Mitchell had a very poor afternoon, and we can forgive him for that because he was ploughing a lonely furrow until Henderson came on . I've said it so often; Jim is not yet learning from errors as a coach. This might be his downfall. Its certain that he isn't getting the best from a talented squad. |

The fact that we usually start games with an ultra cautious attitude is purely down to Jim. We have the squad to be top 2 or 3 but too often we are a little too negative initially. My mate has just texted to say that we could have won that game based on the last 15 minutes. |

I'd change the way we start games. With a more positive approach in the first few minutes, we could well have had 5 or 6 more points. Sounds like we are now pressing for an equaliser at Barnet. |

Sounds like they gifted us a goal back. C'mon Dale |

My friend at the ground saying that we have been comprehensively outplayed in the first half. You could see Barnet had a high press on us from the start and yet we insisted on ridiculous passing around at the back. Apparently, we did go long towards the latter stages of a half in which we were fortunate not to be 3 or 4 down, but absolutely nothing stuck up front because the midfield and wing backs were too deep. |

I'm unable to attend the games at the moment, but do watch on national league tv. As an entertainment spectacle, last night was awful. The commentary team must have said a dozen times what almost all of us can see...we are pedestrian, and don't attack or shoot often enough. It has to be Jim's lack of tactical flexibility that is the issue. It's frustrating in the extreme to observe and doesn't reflect on the players abilities. Well done to Southend for doing the basics correctly and nullifying us almost completely. |

Please substitute "team" for McNulty. Very poor choices from the manager after we totally dominated the first half. |

Should provide excellent coverage and publicity for the club. Such a shame that our COO couldn't be bothered assisting with it. Well done to the supporter who pressed forward with this project (he knows who he is) and also to George for pushing it to our Boards attention. |

Haven't managed to see the last couple of games but did hear radio commentary of the closing minutes of last nights game. The home commentators were obviously very deflated regarding Hartlepool's poor form, whilst they also took time to say how well organised the Rochdale team were and how we looked a class above them. On to a home game at the weekend, and hopefully, more of the same. |

George... I can only echo what others have said. You have done a magnificent job in difficult circumstances and will be a huge loss to the Trust, the supporters and the Main Board of the Football club. I know from personal experience just how time consuming it can be combining Trust issues with work and family duties. Much of the work done by the Trust goes unseen by the vast majority but you have handled things in an highly professional manner during your all too brief spell as Chair. I'd also like to apologise for my badgering you to become a Trust member a few years ago !! |

Really impressive performance today. We were well worth the victory and played assured attack minded football whilst looking solid at the back. Well done to Jim and all the players. Up the Dale. |

Eek. I'd actually almost forgotten about him...but sadly, still have nightmares about Billy Boslem. |

An excellent performance with Woking second best all over the park. Three actually flattered them. So good to see us attacking at pace, which caused them no end of problems. Henry's goal already a contender for gots. Up the Dale. |

Fantastic news. Common sense. Well done to the club for listening. |

Couldn't listen today, but sounds like a very welcome win and an improving second half performance. Another clean sheet to boot, so that's a big plus as well. On to Saturday now... let's see if we can get a bit of momentum at home . Up the Dale |

I honestly can't begin to fathom the complete lunacy of this decision. It has obviously been taken without a hint of intelligence or any thought as to how it will impact the paying supporters. Only a complete about turn and an apology will suffice. I am seriously worried that we have people with such a lack of common sense on the Board. |

Just listened to the manager's interview. He obviously sees a different game to me. There's being positive which is fine and then there's going into denial. We are shot shy Jim. One shot on target is not good enough. York looked the stronger team for much of the game and deserved the win. Beginning to seriously doubt the logic of a 3 year deal. |
| Forum Reply | York away match thread at 21:51 20 Aug 2024
No complaints about the result. York were sharper and better organised as a team than we were. Overall, I'm disappointed that McNulty doesn't seem to have learned from last seasons mistakes and is still scared of his team shooting when they have half a chance. We can almost discount the opening day win against a Boston team who were nowhere near the standard of an average team at this level. Our last two games have been against more typical teams, and we've not shown much tactical flexibility. |
| Forum Reply | York away match thread at 21:03 20 Aug 2024
Looked easier to score. But at least its a good chance. Rodney and Mitchell very quiet so far. York should have scored...again we are wide open down the left side. Combination of keeper and post saving us. |
