In which case he'll make us a nice profit when Real Madrid come calling. Win win.

I wouldn't write Postecoglu off yet, Spurs have been decimated by injuries for some time and yet the results are apparently all the manager's fault.

I was one of the very few Rs in the away end that night. An intimidating atmosphere to say the least, not helped by our extremely defensive performance (back passing to the keeper was very much still allowed then) to grind out a 0-0.

The mate I went with that night is a Forest fan so it wasn't even 100% QPR fans among that small away following.

The home leg which we won 2-1 was extremely lively, during and after the game.

Appliance Repairs - Who Bothers these days?
at 00:52 29 Jan 2025

Agree that replacement is becoming a more attractive option.

There's a company here that deliver next day, connect the appliance and take the old one away. They also price match other outlets. Makes it difficult to justify repair time and costs.

Another symptom of the internet is the death of originality and that includes football chants.

The endless boring "allez, allez, allez" versions being a perfect example.

Abuse in modern football
at 01:23 28 Jan 2025

100% social media a big problem. It means there is no escape and people are stirring up nastiness 24/7. Over the last decade or so online discourse has become very unpleasant and certain forces are deliberately stoking division in every aspect of society.

Its one thing having banter, funny memes (which become less funny after endless copy/pasting) etc, but the personal stuff is just plain nasty and I assume mostly driven by individuals that are very unhappy with their own existence.

As tremendous as Plymouth's new manager's speech was, it clearly isn't helping much.

So what we're essentially saying here is there will be no need for playoffs after all, autos it is.

Yes, as that is very much what mid table teams do.

Well, he had time to be in the away end at Burnley at the weekend so should be fine:

I'm not sure its a case of not being able to play 3 games a week, it is more than the intensity you are expected to play at so much more these days with all the high pressing etc that goes on. So yes you can play, but at the required level of intensity?

Cycling is an interesting one and clearly is a gruelling sport, but even the TDF features many stages where most seem to ride at a very comfortable pace until a mad dash at the end which most of them don't get involved in anyway.

This. A season of mostly misery but if used wisely could really set us up.

(Feasible) players you most wished had/hadn't played for QPR
at 23:41 19 Jan 2025

Scott Sellers back in the 90s and maybe Clive Mendonca. Also Ian Wright who was plucked from non league by Palace.

David Platt (not the skinny hairdresser bloke in Corrie) is another that springs to mind.

As for hadn't, Gus Caesar, Dominic Iorfa, Joey Barton.

Snooker, Golf or Darts
at 23:38 19 Jan 2025

I used to play pool and darts in after work competitions. We used to joke about the "alcoholic peak" after maybe 3 or 4 pints where you would play better for a bit due to less nerves. It didn't last long though and form would deteriorate after another drink or two.

A snooker 147 is incredibly difficult. A mate was a very good player who spent a lot of his time in the local snooker hall. He managed a century break once or twice I think but nowhere near a 147. Just try and put any kind of break together on a full size snooker table, it is so hard. I was not a bad pool player but never got much past 20 or 30 at snooker.

Given the time it takes to score a 147 and the ability required to control many positional shots over an extended period, I'd say its harder than a 9 darter although that too is a tremendous achievement.

As mentioned above, you can fluke a hole in one so I would say that is the easiest of the 3.

Ipswich will go, probably Leicester too.

Spurs are decimated by injuries especially in defence. They will improve if they get players back. Everton always get out of it and will again.
