| Forum Reply | Single file Queuing.. in pubs! at 12:52 10 Jun 2024
First time I saw it was just as we were coming out of Covid and I guess people were doing the old social distancing thing. It wound me up then and winds me right up now. I was in a pub in Reading recently and encountered this nonsense. As many have said on here already, the bar staff don't want this rubbish either. They were actively shouting at people to come to the bar but nobody would budge from the queue. I went straight up to the counter and ordered a beer which encouraged a few groans and cries. I politely informed the (admittedly young in years) queue that I was old enough to have been in a pub before Covid and knew how pubs worked. Shortly after that the queue dissipated and normal service was resumed. Everybody cheered, bought me beers all night and carried me shoulder high around the pub. (All true up to that last sentence) |

I was there, and was also at the Germany game and the semi vs Denmark. Me and my mates followed exactly the same routine for the final as we did for the semi and it was immediately obvious, >3hrs before kick off that there were far too many people there. As soon as we got off the train at Wembley Stadium you could sense a very different, quite unpleasant atmosphere. I had been in 2 minds about going but decided to as i thought i may never get another chance to see England in a major final. I really wish I hadn't gone, and not because we lost. It was just a really unpleasant experience all round |

That's a strong agree from me on the Ashley Madison one. I remember that happening at the time really well and it could've been a really interesting documentary. Turned out to be nothing of the sort. Altho the bloke who did his Mrs' pregnancy test without her knowing, video'd it and then posted it on social media......I have no words |

These are great. Irreverent, irrelevant, engrossing and highly amusing. I just love the pig story and you just know it's real. Is this what we follow QPR for? No? Does it make it loads better? You bet. |

That’s a great read, if entirely depressing. Love the Andre Dozell comment - that is spot on and right at the heart of football culture for those old enough to remember it. We’ll be there today for some reason. No expectations and yea, Bournemouth on Tuesday it is! |

It’s criminal what’s happening here. In most private companies the investors hold the board and the management to account. And if performance is below par, changes are made. One of the many problems we face as a club is that out investors can’t or won’t hold themselves accountable. And they also don’t know anything about football. Look at Birmingham as a great recent example of what happens when people with no football experience take over the running of the club. Yeserday was at least as bad as some of the earlier season performances under Ainsworth. And yet, my 11 year old daughter wants to go on Saturday! How can I tell her….. |

That was a great read. Remember many of those occasions. My personal fave was probably Clive Allen's goal in the semi final at Highbury in 82. We were at the back of the North Bank before it went in; found ourselves practically at the front seconds later! Really excited about tonight. What could possibly go wrong? |
| Forum Reply | GA podcast interview post sacking at 15:40 16 Nov 2023
I bumped into him in the pub last week and had a quick chat. He seemed upbeat, and said he'd already been approached about a couple of jobs but was going to take his time. He seemed genuinely appreciative of the fan base and knows that everyone wanted him to succeed. Didn't think this season's results and performances would spoil his legacy as a player and was proud of 'keeping them up' last season. Anyway, everyone says he is a really decent bloke and he certainly seemed it in person |

Christ it's grim isn't it? Hard to argue with any of this - you do wonder if people up the hierarchy at the club read this. And if they do, what do they think? Would be good to know what the owners are really thinking and planning. Like many, I now cannot watch Ainsworth's interviews either pre or post-match. I get that he can't come out and say we're doomed, but what he does say, and the way he says it is frankly a massive p*ss take. As you say, it would very QPR to win 1-0 on Saturday. But it's even harder than ever to see how that happens with this team. URRRRRRS? :) |

I'm in exactly the same position mate. Been bringing my 11 year old daughter for the last couple of seasons. She knows it's a family curse, but somehow still wants to keep coming to games. We also left when the 4th went in as I just couldn't take any more. This is the worst I can remember in my 50+ years of going to games. We won't be going back until Gareth has been replaced as this it now well beyond a joke. |
| Forum Thread | Is it the manager? at 19:11 7 Oct 2023
There’s been a lot of commentary over the last few years or so about how changing the manager is not the solution. Until now I’ve largely agreed with that and accepted that there are bigger problems at the club. However, it surely is now time to change the manager isn’t it? I mean it can surely get no worse can it? |

I'm with you on the kids comment. My youngest says she still wants to go to the games but it's getting more and more difficult. If we don't improve against Blackburn I can see us taking a break for a while as it's just not enjoyable in any way currently. |

Hi, I can no longer make it on Saturday and have a spare in the East Paddock if that's of interest to anyone. Let me know by return if you or someone you know wants it Cheers No longer available [Post edited 13 Sep 2023 12:47]

Bumped into Suggs with his Mum and Max Beasley a few years ago at the French House in Soho. They'd clearly had a few by the time they got there - I think Suggs and Max had been filming something. Got chatting to them and had a right laugh - bought each other a few rounds etc. Suggs' Mum can swear like a trooper. Think I learned a few new swear words that day. All 3 of them were great value though. Was great for me as I was a massive Madness fan as a kid. |

yeah those are reasonable points - and I can see the tightrope he is trying to walk here. The Critchley approach obviously did not work but I guess my wider view is that GA quite frequently makes comments that are patently not true, and that's obvious if you watch the games. That said, this interview has changed my perspective somewhat. I thought what we saw on and off the pitch at the end of last season was wholly unacceptable and that he was a poor appointment. But I think he makes enough good points in this interview to warrant being a good run this season. Hopefully he can deliver against a lot of the objectives discussed in the interview |

Interesting interview and worth the Patreon sub on its own as others have said. I wish him well but I don't think he does himself many favours with a lot of what he says (The Balogun defence last season as one obvious example). In this interview he talks a lot about the boys giving their all. But then seems to suggest that in different circumstances they maybe could have given more. In which case they weren't giving their all surely? I get that it's a fine balance and it's a tough place to come back from if you openly slag the players, but obvious contradictions like this don't paint a great picture |
