| Your Report | Preston North End v Queens Park Rangers Your Report added at 10:46:28 Not only is Cifuentes capable of good quotes in a second language as in "Football is about achieving, not deserving", he probably needs to start using "A game of two halves"! The starting approach of containment was risky and they just got away with it, probably helped by Preston on a down tick, but what followed after half time was quite exceptional. Players knowing where each other were and looking good forward but lung busting efforts to track back too. Obviously the front line played well but I thought Begovic commanded his area and the defence got better. In the sad week of El Tel, it is interesting that we seem to have got a manager who can plan and rotate with such a limited (in several ways) squad. Especially, as none of these are 'his' players. Maybe not over yet but so dependent on no long term injuries. Good stuff .... had the offer, wish I gone to Preston now!! |
| Your Report | Queens Park Rangers v Luton Town Your Report added at 18:07:28 Disappointing to see no goals after nearly 30 crosses! A couple of nice touches but do not see Roberts offering a great deal to support Dykes, or anyone. How come one loanee is so much a journeyman, yet Laird plays as if it was his club? With a theoretically decent defence, it seems the midfield are too easily carved through, leaving the defence very exposed. And yet there were patches of good football, just not enough and never looked like a scorer. That point at Cardiff might prove important yet! |

| Your Report | Preston North End v Queens Park Rangers Your Report added at 20:22:15 I notice that there is no Bialkowski to vote for on the Rangers team. The BBC report does say "After a cagey opening to the match, Rangers midfielder Bartosz Bialkowski burst through from midfield, only for Preston goalkeeper Daniel Iversen to react swiftly to deny his shot." I hope this will be explained in your report Clive. Especially the tactics behind using him as an outfield player, when we are so short of keepers. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 08:56:25 Very poor performance against poor opposition. Hemed particularly so. This is now a relegation fight, when really it should never have been. The Manning loan raises its head again! |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 13:06:21 Shocking from the off. Second to every ball. Players played as if they had just had a Sunday lunch. Full backs were woeful. How come this team could play so well at Hull and so poorly at Fulham? |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 10:10:54 Great stuff and pleasing to overcome the time wasting antics, not least Carson's mystery wrist injury. The team got better as the game went on and Zamora outshone his previous cameo roles. For once, they looked a force to be reckoned with. Great to get to Wembley! Several great performances out there, Barton as a committed footballer included. Yun looks a great long term option too. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 08:48:56 Great team effort against a very good team. All you ask for really. Quick passing and further up the field, gave Wigan plenty to think about rather than the ponderous build up. Hill was outstanding at the back - loved the chant of 'It's like watching Clint Hill'. Dunne looked a bit vulnerable on the ground against this type of team. Cannot understand what happened in the sending off. Nearly lost it with Gomez going down so easily on the edge of box. |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 09:47:48 The first 30 minutes was very casual and another team would have punished us for this. However, from the build up to the goal for the next 45 minutes I thought we played well and really had control of the game, with good movement and understanding. We should have buried the game then but a refusal to go for goal seems to pervade. The substitutions were understandable, especially Austin, but it was always risky at only 2-0 as the midfield was weakened now. I cannot see the point of SWP, am I missing something? He offers nothing in any department and severely weakens the team. I thought BZ did quite well. Not sure if that is because he has been so bad previously. Saturday will be interesting! |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 12:56:54 It is a grim prospect. We can hold teams but if we fall behind or need to win, we're just don't have it. We just can't make up the gap now. Relegated in early February wasn't quite my expectation this year! |
| Your Report | Oldham Athletic v Salford City Your Report added at 09:56:01 Tremendous performance and they deserved to get something out of it. Shame that it relied on Bolton's failure. As for next season, I cannot see how they can build a team to accommodate Barton. There is no point having a key player who jeopardises the team in a game, followed by the resulting 3 game bans. A midfield of Traore, Faurlin, Derry and Diakite has to be better. Barton to see out his contract on loan? Thanks Clive and the LFW team for all your work. It really keeps me in touch for the the games I cannot be at! |
