Interesting philosophical question as to whether we're the same person as when we were 19. This summer I was back in France at a place I'd worked when I was 19. It hadn't changed much and I'm not sure how much I have. But at 19 I didn't travel to another country to have sex with someone that I knew to be 12 years old. And he did this only 10 years ago, at the height of all the Saville, Yew Tree stuff. He knew better. It was an extraordinarily serious thing to do, and I'm not sure it can put down to anything to do with his age. |

Difficult not top judge a striker on how many goals he scores. Particularly as we know he can score goals at the level below. If he can carry last season's high into the first few games of this season and net a few, it could make all the difference to his season. Needs to continue where he left off last season rather than the last time we were Premier League. And either way he's already earned everyone's respect for the way he plays. |

Is there any chance we could actually appoint somebody who has actually won something?? We've just reached an international final playing not very well at all. We now need someone who can fix the things that have been holding us back and get us over that line. Someone super experienced and a winner. |

Armstrong couldn't cut it the last time we were in the Premier League. He deserves another chance given just how good he was last year but I'm not holding my breath. Mara...err... Stewart - who knows... |

Apologies, some of this is quite confusing. What is a 'made up' conspiracy theory and how do you tell it from a 'real' one? Likewise, how do you tell which bits are made up. Questions: Was Trump shot at in Pennsylvania? Was he even in Pennsylvania? Is there, in fact, such a person as Donald Trump? Where do the lizards fit in? |

Man is in on holiday in the Holy Land with his wife and mother-in-law when his mother-in-law sadly dies. Undertaker offers to bury her there for £150, or it's £5,000 to be flown back to the UK for the burial. Undertaker is confused: 'Why would you want to pay all that money when she could be buried here in these beautiful surroundings and in a place that she loved?' The man replies: 'Two thousand years ago, a man here rose from the dead and I'm just not prepared to take that chance' |

I'm guessing you think it was a set up Jelly? Given that everything is orchestrated by the lizards, no? But was it a set up that went wrong, or was the plan all along just to graze his ear? Or is it too early to pick the right conspiracy, just yet? |

I'm not sure that I've even seen a player more comfortable in possession of the ball than Walker-Peters. Nobody is going to be able to replace that. |

Just more VAR nonsense. Never a pen in a million years. VAR is so bad it's just boring to talk about it now. And what's worse is that it just keeps going. It was obvious is was sh!t years ago, but here it still is. This and other things are sucking football dry. |

These current tales of election date ‚insider‘ betting are a case in point. The greedy f*ckers just can’t help themselves. |

I was going to vote for them but putting leaflets through doors is far too sensible. Sell outs. |

No, I absolutely get the demographic issue and the strain that this level of net immigration puts on the country's infrastructure. I'm less concerned about the 'cultural' issue, as I welcome the influence of other cultures and nationalities. But I get that that's just me, and that many others feel differently about this and seem to fear a 'dilution' of 'British' values, and that's fair enough. I think probably the error of the past was in not making sure that the economic growth which the immigration from particularly the EU fed, was matched by increased housing stock and other infrastructure. Resentment at new arrivers taking scarse resources is natural. |

The personal allowances point is really interesting. It was doubled from about £5/6K to £10/12K under the coalition govt of 2010, and my guess is that this was due to the influence of the Lib Dems at that time. It's a really simple and progressive move as it immediately lifts the poorest out of tax (and the other bands can be adjusted so that the very well off don't benefit from it). But the trend in recent years has been to freeze it and this just has the opposite effect. If, as is possible, Labout get a 200 hundred seat+ majority, they are going to get at least two, possibly 3 terms and will have a chance to change things radically in favour of working people and the NHS. |

I see Reform as a one issue party - immigration. I don't really take much notice of their other policies, or take them too seriously and I don't think that they do either. Actually, I don't take too much notice of manifestos full stop. Once a party has a majority is does whatever it wants anyway. Noone voted for Liz Truss or Rishi Sunak's policies in 2019. |

I was thinking more about the short term. How things were in the 70s, 80s and 90s doesn't help us now when we've had years of relying on immigrant labour to do certain jobs. It'll take time to shift the dial in the way you would want and I think that's been the Tory Party's problem post-Brexit - the need to those jobs filled in the short term. And the other point is that you are right about the wages. But if the wages go up then so too do the costs for the employer and the customer. There is already a cost of living crisis, so assuming that the economy can simply absorb higher wages is fine in the long term but in the short term, that also creates its own problems. |
