Something about a Valentine’s Day massacre – Report

Maybe this team doesn’t realise how good it can be. The Japanese/Moroccan/Korean axis of excitement should put any defence in this league to the test. There’s no need for nervous starts, we should go at teams from the off.

Not harsh at all. I admitted he played well and played some nice passes around.

It was a frustrating start to the game, it was like periods of the game v Coventry where we just couldn’t retain possession. Quite a few misplaced passes and a bit of a timid attitude allowed Derby to gain a foothold in the game and gain confidence and momentum and those two qualities win you games in this league. Fortunately some moments of quality finishing made the difference and the game panned out differently. Like you though I do have concerns about our midfield pairing of Varane and Field. Not that they were playing as a ‘pair’ tonight with Field further up the pitch.

I’m not his biggest fan at all but I’ll admit he did have a good game tonight. However in the second half he had so much room to move into under no pressure that he couldn’t help but look far better than he does in different playing conditions. He did ping a couple of nice balls about which was nice to see a bit of variety in his passing rather than his usual pass it back to the person that’s just passed to him.

Varane prefers to draw players away giving the CB ball player more room and time but I must confess I just have never got what people see in him.
Although in fairness he’s done pretty well tonight.

We’re having more success by playing longer balls and bypassing our midfield. When you should be putting your foot on Derby’s throat Im not sure Field and Varane are what is required.

Still early but we just cannot retain possession. It lets Derby settle into the game and gain confidence. Very frustrating start.

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these.

We beat Eustace only a couple of games ago and I reckon we’ll beat his team again. I’d also like to see Colback and Morgan as the deeper laying two in midfield and Kolli given a chance after an hour or so if he’s recovered from his recent injury/illness (?). I think he’s been hard done by recently considering the amount of goals and assists he’s had.

Rangers 2 Rams 0

C’mon you Soooooopah…

Can’t wait to see Nardi’s compilation of best saves at the end of the season. Phenomenal keeper.

Save against Sheff Wed gets my vote for save of the season….so far!

Anywhere else on the pitch and that’s a foul.

Colback is more progressive than Varane and I’ve thought Morgan needed a rest a while ago.
