Positive vibes/happy stories thread #19 09:37 - Nov 6 with 1962 views | PlanetHonneywood | Given last night's loss, that emerging from over the pond, allied with my own current battles with 18 months of chronic tendonitis in the left ankle and wondering what an MRI scan on Friday will reveal about my right knee I badly twisted on holiday in September, what uplifting posts can we muster to lift our individual and collective fogs. Me? I actually have absolutely nothing uplifting to input. F..k, what a depressing time to be a pain riddled Rfosi, harbouring concerns about how it's all going!!!

Positive vibes/happy stories thread #19 on 09:51 - Nov 6 with 1907 views | DWQPR | My 15 year old son, Joshua has had to endure an unsightly divorce between his parents that should never have dragged on to such a degree. He’s a good lad, polite, never in trouble, well behaved at school, respectful and a really pleasant human being. However his school work dived massively last year and his exam results absolutely tanked. He has one major love above all else, aviation. His ambition since being knee high to a grasshopper has been to be a pilot. I had started him on flying lessons at the start of this year, flying out of Solent airport. When I was told his exam results in March we had a proper one to one chat about what was needed to get his grades up ready for GCSE’s this year. I told him that the only way in which I felt would motivate him was to link flying lessons to a marked improvement. I told him I would email his various teachers and would want regular feedback. The results have been astonishing. In March for Maths he was forecasted to get grade one. He is now pushing for a five. English, two, now looking for a 6, science 3, his latest exams, his marks could not have been higher. At a recent parents evening his science teacher to quote ‘this is the greatest transformation I have ever seen in a pupil, it’s been wonderful’. So Josh has been maintaining his flying lessons and on Monday, on his 12th lesson, started to practice landing, five circuits and five touch and goes, the final three his instructor said were spot on. The aim now is for him to achieve his Private Pilots Licence as soon after his 17th birthday. I am immensely proud of my son. He must have been through hell and back over the last few years but he has held himself together with great courage.

Brilliant stuff. We don't hear this sort of feedback on the young 'un's enough. Forget about just being the pilot... he could well be CEO, Performance Director and Head Coach of the airline
| Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal |

Well actually, I did indeed chuckle at them! I've long since given up on that silly country and 50-plus percent of its people. However, that said, they do provide a rich source of hilarity, which will yield comedy for at least four years, if not 12.

Positive vibes/happy stories thread #19 on 12:50 - Nov 6 with 1458 views | Juzzie | Mrs Juzzie left her job in the summer of 2023 due to them being cnts and decided to have a bit of time off and be a stay-at-home Mum. Started looking again this summer, couple of opportunities didn't come off but the other week after a couple of separate interviews she didn't get one offer, she got two! Has accepted the more preferential one and starts in a few weeks. Elder Juzzie child is old enough to come home from school and be at home by himself (though I will now WFH a bit more often), younger Juzzie child will go to childminder for about 3 hours.

Shankly was being provocative, obviously - you know, using exaggeration to make a point! Thought that seems lost on literalists like yourself. Have a look at this piece for context: https://tribuna.com/en/news/liverpoolfc-2023-12-04-it-was-tongueincheek-why-shan

Positive vibes/happy stories thread #19 on 19:04 - Nov 6 with 1045 views | Gus_iom | The positive vibes thread has gone to shit. Well done. I'll nominate my kids. Give me a ladder, I'll climb down it every time, but my kids......we've had lots of house moves on the rental market before we got the security of a council house, which is a large disruption My oldest is now working for a broadsheet, writes a column, leaders, etc. Can sometimes be seen on tv. Next one down, doing well and has had professional mai Thai bouts out in Thailand, which takes some balls. Number 3 has just got a good job working for a London council, and gives time to working with disadvantaged kids. Number 4 has just moved to a new job for a big company, lots of career progression opening up. Number 5 doing well at school, and doing mai Thai as well (big brother takes training sessions in a dojo). They make me very happy and very proud, and I make them support QPR. Tough shit, kids!
