BIden v Trump - and we thought our options were poor !! 10:41 - Jun 29 with 55719 viewsnumptydumpty

Has anyone seen the "Car Crash" performance of Joe Biden in his live TV debate v Trump.

Many times, he lost his train of thought. Often, he was.out of breath and many times he wasn't focusing.

This man is the so called leader of the developed world.

And he is going to get trounced, big time by Donald Trump, who could be beaten quite easily by a mediocre politician.

I really can't see how Americans can feel about their leaders in anyway that is positive whatsoever.

But this debate was shocking.

Annnnnnnnnd here it comes lads, you knew it was coming, the long-awaited "And this is why we need to usher in communism" argument.

You seem a bit hysterical to me. The evidence is from Capitalist countries.

Even Scandinavia is doing all it can to not accept any more asylum seekers atm - They're at a point where the socialism element of their economy isn't working because following years of high migration, they're losing the social solidarity required for it to work.

Because the Scandi countries followed neoliberal orthodoxy and cut public spending on things like welfare. Ask yourself who creates inequality & who creates the discourse around it?

"
Inequality “creates a fertile field for populists,” he said. “It gives them an argument that they can make about the system being rigged. And that’s especially true when the inequality is created by political processes — where there are people who aren’t paying their fair share of taxes, where people feel that they’re exploited in one way or another by the system.”

The inherent danger is that populists “don’t have answers” to these problems, he said. They simply “prey on this discontent.”

“The strongest example of that was Trump’s 2017 tax cut, which, when fully implemented, would have raised taxes on the vast majority of people at the bottom. … That’s the sort of bait and switch of some of the parties on the right, that are trying to take advantage of that discontent.”

Agreed, but the point was about welfare, equality and income distribution. Not asylum seekers. Closing the gap between the highest paid in an organisation to the lowest paid doesn't seem a bad idea when some CEO's are paid 200 times as much (or more) than a front line worker and clearly don't provide 200 times the value.

So you are aware of this stuff - You do know the BLM riots destroyed parts of the US that will not be rebuilt for a generation or more - But you don't care, those narratives don't suit your personal worldview. So you disregard those in favor of the ones that do.

Same way you all know that Covid (And the actions taken to prevent it spreading, lol) primarily destroyed the economy, rather than Tory incompetence or corruption - And yet you mostly wanted far stricter, longer lockdowns, because you thought at the time it was a good idea. Anybody who had concerns for the state of the economy was accused of trying to kill Granny. Anybody who had concerns about the vaccine was a conspiracy theorist nutjob.

I didn't get the vaccine following a reaction to the 2017 Flu jab, but I did not discourage anybody that wanted to get theirs. I came on here and mentioned that the "Medical exemption" thing was complete bollocks and impossible to get in the real world - and was met with a fairly predictable "Conspiracy theorist alert!" response from the same old posters on here, who evidently have trust in the scum media than they do other QPR fans that they've known for years. Weird.

Stuck in a never ending traffic jam yesterday I listened to a superb interview retired US neurosurgeon Ben Carson gave and he touched on this exact topic SheffieldHoop along with many more
It was not the vaccine he was against (he did mention it was the first in medical history not to give surgeon warnings of the downside of getting it ) but the fact it was forced on people and the ultimatum of jab or careere loss had a devestating effect on the US .Across the board from medical to military to business ,construction and every day lives financially destroyed ,loss of pensions ,401ks etc with no apology or explanation 3 years on.
The reason I posted the Capitol Riots stats compared to the BLM riots was to simply compare the destruction and crippling effect one had compared to the other for the sake of this thread.
Jan 6th is way down on the list of issues on this election in this election its ,Abortion, Illegal Immigration , Crime ,Ecomony,Healthcare,Supreme Court, Foreign Policy Etc .

I think the destinction that can be made, is that one shouldn't expect acts and/or omissions exhibited by a president, and lets be quite clear here, he was seeking to orchastrate a coup, because boo-hoo he lost and didn’t like it. The events on that day were totally avoidable if Trump had accepted the resultas opposed to peddling unfounded accusations and lies to his idiot base.

In comparison, the whole BLM movement was as a reaction to the latest round of systemic racist abuses of black people. In situations where, if it were a white man/boy, the police would not be shooting to kill. Situations not condemned if memories serve, by the president who, if anything, was geeing up the good old boys.

One wrong doesn't make a second right, but both can be distinguished as the act of a spoiled brat not getting his way, and an historic reaction to oppressive/racist treatment.

I can’t stomach Trump, I think that he’s noxious and is leading the white working class to a very dark place. My god what an idiot, I'd even consider voting for Hillary Clinton over Trump if I feel like Trump has a really good chance of winning. He's unfit for America’s highest office. America's own Hitler.

Yeah, I think it's good to talk about politics, but, certainly on social media, we are all so entrenched in our views, the arguments go round and round and people get angrier and angrier.
Fwiw, I think you get the balance spot on. I don't envy you moderating it all.

Yep. It's inevitable sadly. Should have stuck to the rules of no politics on here but completely understand why we let it slide. There's a lot of horrible things going on around us and people are trying to understand it all.

The leading suggestion is straight out of the populist playbook, we saw Farage do similar this week. It will obviously stick with the MAGA lot but I’m not sure what effect it will have on the swing voters. It does seem to me that he has so far struggled to adapt to find a new attack line. I’m sure he’s desperate to go all out anti women, anti black but must be worried if it’s too direct it’ll just turn out more Democrat’s and moderate Republicans against him. The apathy for Biden gave him the poll lead but it appears that it may be shrinking now.

However, if we bury our heads in the sand, and don't afford people the opportunity to hear or read opposing views, then we run the gauntlet of s/he with the loudest voice or deepest pockets becoming the only voice.

After that, its up to people to use what reasoning skills they may have to form their views. But yes, having listened to Trumpet over the years, I've yet to hear a single word to alter my view.

Yes, 100% agree but LFW probably isn't the place IMHO. Everyone has shown their cards since the Brexit, Corona threads and it just turns into online keyboard wars. Loads on here have a bit of needle with each other and it just spills over. Obviously we're all adults but it's just grim when someone takes it too far. I'm as guilty as anyone btw. LFW is better when politics isn't mentioned.

Don't think I've ever used the button. Don't particularly feel the need to. I'd rather just stick my nose in tutting.. lol.
Just speaking for myself but I never enjoy getting into arguments on here. I always feel like shit after. It can't be good for anyone's mental health rucking with fellow QPR fans over something they have no control over.
I deleted all my posts on that cycling thread a few months back as it was actually playing on my mind driving through London, and not in a positive way. I was pretty zen about cyclists at the start of the thread and by the end of it I was back to bloody hating them again.
Life's too short mate. I rather LFW be about football, music , insects and family etc.

Not a good look is it? Even in a clipped interview such as this one, which doesn't contain the rest of the interview for the full context it's poor judgement on his part to bite the clear race baiting by the legacy media and respond in such a manner.

However, I'd argue it's not as bad as openly insinuating any African America, Asian American, Latino American, LGBTQIA+ American, or Female American who votes for Trump being severely mentally retarded - which has been done openly on this thread without any repercussion or comment from yourself or others for that matter. The hypocrisy is palpable.

I don't mind if this thread is stopped Clive.

Apologies. I started it simply because of how bad Biden appeared during his debate with Trump in terms of confusion and brain fog.

I didn't envisage people throwing insults at each other, which some are nasty.

Anyhow also the title of the thread is also irrelevant now.

Perhaps some lurkers may be put off posting about QPR, if they read how some posters are towards each other especially on political threads.

I would not worry if political threads were not allowed and those that wanted to debate, could go elsewhere for that type of debate..
