Cooper left no legacy. He parachuted in two raw current international Guehi and Gallagher. Plus red hot Brewster. He was all in for promotion with a good budget and top player on loan and failed.

Cooper bought left no legacy. Kris Petersen did not play. Players found for him like Gyorkeres and Whittaker were not developed. He knew Gyorkeres would be a good player but he had no long term vision to build something. He wanted Keinan Davis instead

I think both did an astonishing job when you look at what they achieved. Cooperās football as was Martinās not the best to watch at times. Martin took the club within three points of the play offs, but like Cooper was āmoved onā after a play off final ! The club is a fools graveyard of ridiculous decision making, and even when they get a shot across the bows, a warning, they still make the same mistakes. As both Martin and Cooper proved by taking their respective clubs to the premier league. Put the personal stuff to one side and you canāt help but think the level of amateurish decision making has time and time again restricted our club.
Thatās where the issue is.

What did Martin achieve? Unlike his predecessor he failed to get us in the top 6.
That end of season run that got us to within 6 points of the top six showed we had the squad to do better than we had due to the managers stubbornness...had he adopted the same tactics and style of play from the seasons start we may have even got promoted.

Martin was nowhere near Coopers success at our club...Cooper twice got us to the play offs ...Martin fluked 3 points off it only after Kaplan had a word in his ear...Cooper took a club from bottom of the Championship to the PL Martin took a recently relegated PL side back up...and again fluked the play off final where Leeds out possessed Martins Southampton and had more attempts at goal but couldn't finish.
The "support " he gets here amazes me his football was dire and dull. ..remember his first season we couldn't beat Middlesboro away who were bottom of the league at the time despite having 80 % possesion. Had we had to watch Martin ball under the conditions we saw Coopers on TV with no crowds I'm sure many would have been reaching for the remote.
But yes the owners have managed to pee managers off....let's hope that's not an ongoing issue | |
