Gylfi Will Be A Man In Demand Saturday, 20th May 2017 21:30 by Planet Swans (follow us on Twitter @swansnews) Silly season hasn't started yet and already Everton and Tottenham Hotspur are being linked with a move for the Swans key player this summer in Gylfi Sigurdsson which is set to be the long running transfer story of the summer Sigurdsson high number of assists and goals this season will always prove to mean that "big" sides will be linked with him but, maybe its the optimist in me, I can see him being at the Liberty next season. Don't ask me why I think that will happen but to stay at Swansea will see Gylfi remain a big fish in a small (medium) sized pond. He has gone before and it never really worked out for him at Tottenham and you can't help but wonder if that will shape his view if and when official offers come in for him. Everton have been linked with a move since January and it was reported that the Swans turned down an official approach during the last transfer window. And Tottenham are no rumoured to be looking at the player that they let return to the Swans three years ago after two years at White Hart Lane. Paul Clement is another who believes that Sigurdsson could stay at Swansea "I think he has a unique situation," he said. "He was here on loan and then he went to Tottenham, which was set to be the next step in his career. "It didn't work out, he came back here and has done really well. "He is going to have that in his mind - if he is going to make the next step it has to be a positive one. "He cannot have another situation like he had at Tottenham, where he potentially goes somewhere and is in and out of the side, and does not gather any momentum. "Otherwise he is better staying here, being a key player and building something around moving this club forward." Sigurdsson - along wth Fernando Llorente - has been vital to the Swans in the second half of the season and holding onto such a key player would be a great statement of intent and a signal that maybe things at the club are turning a corner after two years of struggle. Expect more rumours as the summer goes on but would love to believe that we can hold onto him. Or is that hope.
