Barcelona In For Saints Target
Wednesday, 1st Jul 2015 11:06

Saints could face a stiff challenge for the services of one of their targets to replace Morgan Schneiderlin according to the latest media reports.

Saints are one of three Premier league clubs being linked with Vincent Iborra the Sevilla midfielder, the other two allegedly being West Bromwich Albion & West Ham, but a bigger name is set to enter the arena.

Barcelona could be bidding for Iborra if the forthcoming elections for the Presidency of Barca are won by Josep Maria Bartomeu, who has vowed to land his signature if he is re-elected with the Catalan giants in July.

Sevilla manager Unai Emery is desperate to hold on to Iborra, who can play either as an advanced or more restricted central midfielder, hemade 26 appearances for Sevilla last season, ending as the club’s third highest goalscorer.

An accomplished finisher, as well as an effective protector of the back-four, the Spaniard’s ability in both the first and final third could make him the perfect replacement for Schneiderlin. Indeed by the sound of it he has more strings to his bow than the Frenchman.

However, this latest news suggests that Saints could miss out with Barcelona set to enter the fray.

What's great is that with all the media transfer rumours, the Saints keep their cards close to their chest until they are ready to sign and seal a deal. Best way to do business these days and keeps us all excited too.

He's just using Barcelona as bait-his head is in Scousehampton!

You're right, Bison but that was in place last year and Suarez was banned from having anything to do with a football club for 4 months and we all know who signed him a month after the World Cup.

I have to admit: I'm beginning to think this whole FIFA thing is crooked.

Harrison Reed looks like he is about to break that kid's leg in the picture. Hopefully he will be the real Schneiderlin replacement.
(Would like to see Claisse as well though)

Always a snide little dig at Morgan Schneiderlin tucked in somewhere Nick, why so?

He's been one of our most loyal and skilful players ever and has always conducted himself as an exemplary model professional unlike many of the spoiled brats Lallana, Clyne, Shaw and their ilk who come our way, treat us like dirt and can't get up the M3 fast enough in their jazzy supercars that we enabled them to buy in the first place.
