Saints Fans Back Kelvin For The Run In Thursday, 26th Mar 2015 21:25 Saints supporters have been showing their confidence that Kelvin Davis will prove up to the task in the final games of the season. Saints list of injuries to key players has been seemingly never ending this season and after several months of missing one player or another through injury and suspension as well as call ups to the African Cup o Nations it looked like Saints would finally have a full squad for the run in to the end of the season, before 15 minutes had elapsed in the game against Burnley though, Saints had probably suffered their most catastrophic loss with Fraser Forster being injured. The news that he will be out not only for the rest of this season but possibly the start of next was a blow that Saints could ill afford given the cover available for Forster comprised of only veteran keeper Kelvin Davis, the relatively inexperienced Paulo Gazzaniga and the completely untried Cody Cropper, it seemed Saints gamble to not replace Arturo Boruc with an experienced understudy had backfired. However Kelvin Davis confident display against Burnley in the 85 minutes or so he played as seemingly lead most Saints fans to the conclusion that Kelvin can step up to the plate if a couple of on line polls can be believed. The quick poll on this site revealed that around 82% of Saints supporters believe that Kelvin Davis can do the job, although 55% of those who voted felt that would be due to the calibre of opposition not being too high with only 27% giving him an unequivocal thumbs up and the remaining 18% feeling that we should make every attempt to recall Arturo Boruc. Although the TUI poll could not be described as having a large vote so far, it did pretty much mirror the far larger poll run on the Daily Echo website, that of course had a larger vote and had a simple choice of yes or no to Kelvin's ability to do the job, but 81% felt that he was good enough. So the feeling so far is that Kelvin Davis will not let the club down over the next two months and that will surely be a boost to his confidence as well as showing him that the supporters do appreciate the long service that he has put in at St Mary's since joining the club in the summer of 2006. The Ugly Inside poll is still open and you can vote on the right hand side of this story. Photo: Action Images Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
