Speed tribute to take place before Boro clash Thursday, 21st Nov 2013 21:22 As Saturday's clash with Middesbrough falls closest to the second anniversary of Gary Speed's death, the club will pay tribute to our tragic hero before kick-off. Speed was found dead at his home in Cheshire on 27th November 2011 aged 42, although there were indicators that he had taken his own life the Coroner later recorded a narrative verdict as he could not be satisfied Speed intended to commit suicide. Speed began his career at Leeds and won a Second and First Division Championship winners medal, as well as a Charity Shield winners medal prior to moving to Everton for £3.5m in 1996. Prior to the game, a special montage featuring the highlights of Gary's Leeds career will be shown on the big screen. Our academy players will parade a banner paying tribute to the former Wales Manager and fans are asked to sing his name from the 11th minute, 11 of course being his squad number at Leeds.
