Welcome To Planet Swans

Welcome to Planet Swans - your new home for all things Swansea City.

Planet Swans is very much, and will remain so, a work in progress operation.   When it was first launched back in December 2007 we had a clear vision of what we wanted to achieve - a vision that has not been sidetracked too much despite teething problems with the forum.

We wanted to achieve a site that had a forum that worked, a forum that was stable and a forum that had many of the features that people were asking for.   We were aware that, to many, the forum was the most important part of the site which is why we spent two months getting that right.  We now think we have that pretty much covered off with software that isn't littered with SQL errors and a server that seems very stable and a load time that is acceptable.   Maybe even more than acceptable.

And in the short term that the forum has been running we have seen over 1000 people sign up to use it's facilities coupled with over 52,000 posts made on the two forums that exist.   There are things that can be changed on the forum and we will continue to work on those in the coming weeks and months.

But once that was ready and stable we wanted to move onto the rest of the site.  The content material.    And this is what you see going live today.    What we have worked on so far before launch is the site template, layout and news sections.  It was important, we felt, to provide a rolling news service that gives you news, views, reports and pictures from the world that is Swansea City - or Planet Swans if you like.  This part of the site is functional and this part of the site will continue to be updated on more than one occasion during a day.  As you would expect, the section is open to all to contribute and if you would like to see something you have to say in print via this section then please get in touch here and tell us what your thoughts are.

You will notice that the other links are not yet operational.   Your machine is working properly and these features are not yet fully up and running.  This is the work in progress.  We have some visions for these sections and are working towards getting them working as soon as we can.  We have the priority list that we want to work with and over the coming weeks and months you will see these links becoming live and operational.  Some other features including competitions will be launched within the next few days and don't forget you can also play the Prediction League here

Some additions to the site will not come into play until the start of next season - new division, new features? - but we promise they will be worth waiting for especially for those that like to study things in a little more depth.

But most importantly of all this is your site.  Although we have views on what we would like to see incorporated into the site we also want to hear the views of those that occupy it in terms of visiting.  Are there things that you would like to see on the site?  Some may have been thought about but others most definitely won't have been.  We have an experienced and talented developer working on the site and many things are possible - remember the old adage of, if you don't ask you don't get.

Planet Swans will evolve over a period of time into what we hope will be a valued resource for Swans information so sit back and enjoy the ride - if indeed you can enjoy the ride on a web-site!!!!
