It's clear to me poor Nigel inherited his football DNA from Barbara not from Brian. His basic football instinct is invariably wrong. Let me give you an example. He buys Maguire from Aberdeen and doesn't play him because of some lack of basic skill and then declares that the Scottish market is going to be the focus of the club because the players are honest and cheap. We're all doomed. |

One thing Derby fans have always needed is a sense of humour to get them through the dark times and this article is a superb example of that - having a laugh about our situation as its better than slashing our wrists. However tonight is no laughing matter - we must pull out a performance to win tonight otherwise the frustrations will boil over. Something has to change at the club otherwise it will start to become embarrassing. There has been no progress at the club in the last 2 years (apart from cost cutting) so unless something signifcant changes mediocrity at best is what we have to look forward to. |

Article is spot on. I am amazed at the patience of Rams fans to put up with the amateur way in which the football side of the club is run ie "we'll make do and mend - use a few kids - consistently play players out of position." I'm sure if they could get a 'ringer' on the pitch using a false name (like my old pub team used to) they would. Punters are paying a lot of money and they are being short changed. As for Cloughie - if his name was Smith he would have been toast long ago. We all want him to succeed because of the legacy but unfortunately he's just not a very good manager. He admires work-rate ahead of talent, he handles players poorly (ie falling out with them and publicly criticising them) he buys players and then never plays them (how can that be justified when we have such a small budget?!!!) However his biggest failing is distancing himself from poor performance ie "the players have fallen short" - it's HIS team, HE is responsible - team failure is HIS failure. The positive spin he tries to put on yet another defeat is embarrassing and fools nobody. With the fanbase and facilities we have surely we have got to be better than this ?! |
