Forgot about Belgium and Blues! Used it a bit last season.

I saw simply weller at heartbreakers last night. Quite a good tribute band.

Pre and post match
at 10:15 22 Sep 2024

Got the train down yesterday as I went to a gig at heartbreakers in the evening.

One thing struck me after some discussion on here re the fanzones and the quality of alcoholic beverages in plastic pint pots.

I went to O’Neils instead of the painted wagon in the hope of avoiding plastic cups, no luck in there and it tasted awful, tried the pool bar next door - same in there, in fact everywhere bar the mayflower after the game were serving drinks in plastic pint pots.

Is there anywhere that uses glasses on match day anymore? Haven’t been to Oxford street since moving my ST. Is it just the top of town that insists on selling drinks in plastic?

1, Fanzones
2, No goals being scored means the Northam wall doesn't get criticized for not being loud enough should we put one away.
3, Ross Stewart might be fit enough to play a full game this season.

5 Things About Saturday
at 17:21 16 Sep 2024

I missed Saturday as I was in Ireland for the weekend, my son picked me up from the airport earlier and he said at half time he couldn’t believe we were two nil down considering how well we played but the second half was abject. He also said he tried the fanzone due to the early kick off but gave up trying to get a pint outside and went in and got one from one of the pop up bars.

It seems there are teething troubles on and off the pitch this season, let’s hope for something better against Ipswich next Saturday. Another defeat (regardless of the performance) and I think any credit RM has with the fans will be fast evaporating.

I agree, I'm not a massive fan of the style of play and It was always going to be a struggle this season with a steep learning curve for RM and the team. Let's hope we see some lessons learned in the coming games. And with SR in charge and their track record of panicked managerial appointments I fear the worst should they need to do a mid season reset.

I thought he did well last season then he picked up an injury. It was a shame for him and us at that point as I thought he was really coming along. Good luck to him.

If we were fans of any of those three teams we’d be rubbing our hands at the thought of playing us.

I bet Wolves fans are counting down the days until they play us and we do our usual thing of bending over and gifting them 6 easy points in a premier league season.

I think with each new daily thread counting down the days left of the window, you should sign it off with a “Ross Stewart is just 2 weeks away from fitness” update as well.

Couldn’t help but look at Forests team slightly enviously on Saturday. They’ve built a team that can do a job in the premier league. I just wish we had that Philosophy rather than dull no impact possession football that we seem destined to watch this season.

I think even the most optimistic of fans realises we’re going to lose a lot of games this season, it’s just I’d rather we had a go at teams like Forest and lose than play the way we played yesterday and still lose.

Fair play to Forest, they’ll be fine this season. A strong team that knows when to go for it and when to defend.

The club do everything they’ve done over the summer, moving away fans, fanzones etc to try and build on the West Brom game atmosphere then the team puts in a performance like that at the first time of asking. If you were working in department for fan engagement you’d be mightily miffed this morning.

He’s a reactive manager, not a proactive manager.

That was fecking dull. They could still be out there now playing, and Forest sat on their coach home yet we still wouldn’t look like scoring.

Why are we to afraid to shoot! Take a shot fellas!

Top 3 reasons to give Fanzones the swerve
at 08:19 22 Aug 2024

Agree with points 1 & 3.

As for point 2 I'm all for the bantz. Just needs someone to organise a UI meet up at the Northam Fanzone. I'll nominate you to arrange that Pat.

How familiar

Agree with this, in the sober light of the morning after and watching the highlights there was plenty of positives.
It’s frustrating that for what seems like the umpteenth season we are talking about a keeper. For me McCarthy coming in last season when Bazunu got injured was a turning point in us getting promoted. The frustration that we (fans) knew McCarthy wasn’t good enough with his feet when Ralph had him as number one is bewildering that we are asking him to take these risks to our detriment. In a league where every point is going to count I worry about the one that got away yesterday.

Let’s hope this week sees us finally addressing the GK situation one way or another. Either by buying someone that can play the way RM wants and can stop shots or the instruction to McCarthy is to go long and perhaps play over the press and force teams to think about that.

I’m actually looking forward to next Saturday. Been a while I said that about a premier league game!
