Good win, one of those games where in past seasons we would've come away with nothing. Shame we didn't put away a few of those chances before HT but take the 3pts and move onto Hull. Without getting ahead of ourselves we are making a timely move similar to Forest when they went up via play offs. One thing we are doing well is not losing and coming away with crucial draws when being outplayed. Looking up not down. |

I questioned Dunne's ability to play RB at the beginning of the season, however it's forced him to improve his footwork. What he also brings on the flanks is his physicality against wingers which I like, he contests well in the air where in the past we've been quite weak. |

Confidence and trust is a big reason, if we continue to play well it will soon come |
| Forum Reply | Marti party over? at 11:24 20 Oct 2024
After sitting through 85mins of what I have recently termed my weekly charitable donation. It's clear that Marti has over complicated his tactics in a largely straightforward league. The upper loft gives you a good view of formations and players movement to which it’s very clear where it’s not working. Fox too slow at moving the ball to Paal or Saito allowing Portsmouth to screen cover. Dunne (and apologies to any huge fans here) is simply too clumsy and simply not good enough to play with ball at feet. Bar a switch to right back last season he hasn’t improved his overall game and reverts to panic hoofing the ball out of the stadium. What surprised me yesterday was rather than showing for the ball in midfield we thought it was easier to play up to Frey and build. Where has the midfield gone? Portsmouth on the other hand played neat 3,4 passes and were on attack. If we are a possession based team why are we then bypassing our midfield and reverting to hoofball. The only time this changed was when Field (yesterday’s walking red card tight rope) went off and Morgan added some movement to our static midfield. If Marti plays Field and Madsen again in front of the back 4 or 3 or 5 he deserves all the criticism. If we are to move upward then it has to go back to basics which Marti did when he first came in. 4-1-4-1 or 4-2-3-1 screen the back 4 with Field and Varane/Colback and give players who are seemingly struggling Dunne, Madsen, Fox to read the game from the bench and build their confidence with small cameos. The championship is a funny old league. Blink and it’s January. |

I saw he played 38 games for Luton last year. Sort of player we need to liven up that left footed midfield of ours |

Danish media reporting we're in for Lucas Andersen. Danish winger from Aalborg. Has played in a Cifuentes team previously. Doubt we'll get Ebiowei now from Palace |

Time to change the formation, or at least hire a defensive coach. Didn’t Clint Hill say on a podcast that when he was at Rangers with Warbs that they never ran defensive drills |

Because those comparing seem to discourage the hard work we’ve done in the last 6 years. Whilst we were pissing money at the wall in the prem, they were quietly going about their business. We’ve just seen our first real prospect go for big money. There’s more to come. We’re years behind them but where we are currently are, I’d take this set up everyday over the shambles witnessed in our latter prem days. |

Not actually the case. Do you need to split hairs here? They run a similar model in both clubs and would of course lend and borrow when they can. Case and point, they do it. |

Can we stop comparing the Brentford model to ours. People are obsessed. They do their thing and we do ours. Both very profitable in their own right. 6 years ago we didn’t have a single decent academy or youth player coming through and sold for big money. Eze was the first and now we have BOS (who we bought for £250k from Blackpool) being lined up for a big money move. Dieng, Dickie, Kelman, Dyckes will go onto bigger clubs for bigger fees than we paid. People forget, Brentford owners also own Midtjylland - both feed players to each club. I’m sure if we had similar we’d be doing much better. Ramsey is doing a great job with the U23. Fickle fans see otherwise. |
| Forum Reply | Manning updates??? at 12:03 2 Oct 2020
Some have said Manning is working with a new agent who is demanding a higher wage from the club - using this as leverage to get a deal with a prem club. Personally don't think he'd start in the prem. Could easily end up like Josh Bowler. Nice to see club standing firm |

Nice to have backup to Dykes - takes pressure off Oteh (would imagine a loan for him). Flippant fans on Twitter still screaming about our resources at the back. Can't please them all! |
