Trouble is, Labour’s communications are so poor at the moment, they struggle to put even these type of good news stories. It’s a real mess. Stuff like this should be trumpeted as the Tories can’t clap back as their record is so poor. |

He shouldn’t have done it but I think an apology should have been enough. |

Loads of really good points here and I'll add couple more. 1. The demise of school extra curricular sports in some areas. Most of us on here will remember a teacher saying "Match on Thursday boys, bring your boots for 3pm and I'll see you there". Now there has be a risk assessment written and approved, letters to go out and come back with parents permission, medical needs collated, a first aider additionally present etc. It's a much bigger faff. There's also becoming a need to sort transport out as more and more schools are stopping parents from attending sporting events, partly for safeguarding reasons and partly because a minority can't behave when watching. 2. The 'professionalisation' of grassroots sports. Go to any park on a Saturday and you'll see young kids in club kits/tracksuits etc. This coupled with how much admin clubs have to do now means that team sports cost. Sometimes that means those who need it most miss out. [Post edited 12 Feb 14:49]

That's my experience too. I always think one of the big positives rugby clubs have over football is having a clubhouse. These are community focal points that many people access even if they don't have a playing connection. Most seem to be doing ok to me and arnet closing at the rate pubs are. I've many happy memories of playing up at Bonymaen. Always been a fantastic club. |

I don’t see it as any different to supporting other parts of Welsh culture - arts, music, environment etc. The NHS example is always an emotive one as nothing is as important as health. If we based taxes on that it’s all we’d have. |

Possibly, but I’d need to see the detail. We’re guessing at the moment and the only ones making money are those generating clicks with fanciful headlines. |

I don’t think anything will happen, let alone £18 trillion pounds going over (which I believe is a number bigger that all the wealth held in the UK) |

That assumes that the 80% all want the welsh language to die though, doesn’t it. In regards to the £26 billion you insist on using, that’s about as accurate as the Truss £30 billion figure. Neither should be used. |

I didn’t realise that was the approach they were taking. All need to be held to account. |

What I’d like to see WR, is instead of people saying they’ve had enough of the major parties and going to vote Reform because anything must be better, that they start challenging Reform about what they’re about. We shouldn’t have to go into the election blind, we should know what they intend to do. |

Possibly. Although you could argue that it was part of his work. Still doesn’t sit well with me. |

I agree with you. But there’s not chance of us paying billions and Lammy, as Another John said) is only talking about possible non financial support. That’s what we should be talking about, not the daft headlines in the Telegraph and GeeBeebies. |

The voice coach thing is definitely an issue for me. The council tax is isn’t because it’s demonstrably not a lie. |

I saw the GB news one and the £18 trillion figure yesterday. Bonkers. The social care/education one is interesting as we take so many care workers and teacher over here in a bit of a brain drain. Not sure of the implications it an interesting thing to investigate. I’m not sure the outlets saying we’re giving them trillions is helping. Some actually believe it and it makes them understandably very cross. |

He said “ a labour government would freeze your council tax this year” two tears ago. Admittedly, easy to say this in opposition but not a lie. |

I can’t see the telegraph article due to the paywall but if not seen the new government suggest any financial compensation. I wonder (using Cats sensible comparison), one of our politicians demanded a gazillion pounds from Norway after the Vikings, one of their major newspapers would run it as a serious story? Seems a bit like the tens of millions of young people we’ll be ordered to take frOM the EU. |
