Dembele sums up recent times for me. It's gone unbelievably quickly from what a great signing, please secure him permanently, to what on earth happened to him and ooh that's a long-term injury. So quick, not even a second to enjoy the good times. |

Ah yes getting back to the football - one quality midfielder alongside Super Ray in his pomp and I am convinced we would have won something. Holloway was dreadful, whatever the misty-eyed romantics say, and Barker was OK but nowhere near top class. Imagine another good midfielder in there........argh. |

Hope it means Marti won't be sacked if / when we lose. Would seem ridiculous to list out injury disasters before doing that? Straw clutching, I know. |

Couldn't agree more Brian and I think you were right at the time and I still think you were right now. The cold "facts" TK lists seem damning evidence to the contrary, but it misses out so much of the emotion and feeling and frustration of the time. With odd echoes to now, we had communication that involved Cinzano writing puff pieces in the programme claiming absolute rubbish about Thompson and his commitment - the good ship QPR was heading to the rocks with a nepo baby in charge. It's all very well saying it was a good offer for Peacock and a sensible sale, but what about the timing? The lack of cover? Who we were playing next? Why it happened? Also, Sinton claimed he didn't want to leave. So who was lying? |

Surely proof positive they have feelers out on this board and other fan hubs. A direct reaction to the criticism. Good to see. Although the injury list isn't. |

I'm disagreeing with your opinion of Thompson's treatment and the protests, not with "facts" of what happened. |

Good points, but lots of retrospective in-the-cold-light-of-day stuff. Of course from what has happened since it seemed absurd, but the key for me was that in those days I was a QPR fan, interested only in what happened on the pitch, not how many £££ we had. There were no TV deals or whatever, no FFP. What we had was a fantastic team and a fantastic squad and every time we got somewhere Thompson actively sought to rip the team apart, sell, sell, sell. Yes - agree - all very sensible, all very good for little old QPR and our financial solidity. But not much fun. We will never win a trophy in my lifetime, and that was our best chance. And he squandered it. So I disagree. |

It does sound ridiculous now, but there were very valid reasons at the time. We finally had a team capable of winning at least a cup and Thompson was determined to sell every single good player we had, regardless of the time in the season or even if there was much point in selling them (Peacock - should have stayed his entire career). I will never forgive him for that. But I suppose these days he would be a great chairman as he cashes in on our players. But - totally different situation I feel. |

Thankyou - I couldn't find it anywhere, or I thought I did but it was miles out of date. We are interestingly placed - promotion not out of the question. Get behind the ladies - at least they've won at Loftus Road this season. |

I know we're not allowed to know anything, but it would be nice to know what the plan and ambition is for the women's side. Are we genuinely aiming for the Championship? In how many years? We must have an eye on Chloe Kelly surely. If we can get to the Championship inside 3 years, Chloe will be 30 and she is already out of favour at Man City. Offer her a large, long-term contract then build the interest around her, especially as she is a bit of a celebrity anyway. I see her as a one-off opportunity to get the women's side motoring. |
| Forum Reply | Fan Mobilisation - Nourry Out at 12:19 17 Nov 2024
Yes. We all know the difference between the feelings on here and the general feelings of the crowd, especially at home games. I've worked myself into a fury in the past at people like Laird and Roberts and been given quizzical looks. I've had a go at Armstrong for over celebrating and they think you are insane. If it was down to me, I would want mobilisation against Nourry. But no way in the world will it happen. I also think the home fan base is somewhat disparate these days. You have the 'yoof' who are more interested in goading opposition fans and filming themelves than watching the football; the cokeheads who just want to laugh manically, fight with anyone and leave at random points, the can't-get-in-to-Chelsea/Brentford/Fulham lot who are either just there with their mates in pity or find it all a bit quaint.... Then there's us, howling at the moon. Perhaps the best bet would be from the brilliant QPR flag guys, they have that excellent Marti flag don't they? But who says they agree anyway? |
| Forum Reply | Rangers Ladies Team at 11:48 17 Nov 2024
I can't stand Nourry and wish him gone, but one thing he most definitely has got right is to raise the profile of the women's team and envelop them properly into the club. It's a no brainer to try and get them at least into the Championship, especially with the raised media profile of the WSL. |

Agreed, having been his harshest critic of both his goalkeeping and his Chelsea podcasting, nice and accurate words about QPR as a club. Fair dos. Still useless though :-) |

Oh yes, distinctly remember quite a few leaving at HT. I was there with my older sister and she wanted to leave at HT - for some reason (being young!) I persuaded her to stay at least until the next goal...... |

Well, quite. No grumblings in the away end against manager / players / Director of Recruitment / CEO? |

Just gone to look on Betfair what our odds are to be relegated. It's still odds against (just)! Fill yer boots if you think we are definitely down.... |

I totally understand that argument. I do think, though, that if I was that rich and (hopefully) a good businessman / woman, I wouldn't just anticipate the £1m+ a month a loss as an inevitable fait accompli for many years forward. I would be plotting a way where that is massively reduced and even turned around. And not just basing everything on getting to the Premier League. You know, sustainability. We're not that unattractive are we? An extremely loyal fan base, a stadium and training ground in West London and currently residing in the 5th largest league in the world or whatever it is. I'd like owners who aren't just obsessed with the PL but instead have a long-term sustainable plan to keep this community club healthy and strong for many years. Or just have a plan. Any plan. |

Obviously you are right but where's the next guy with £100m+ willing to throw away? Maybe we could get a Del Boy consortium together like when they bought Arnie's 250 gold chains. In all seriousness though, the wealthy / sports mad Americans do buy on potential and for all the money we lose we must be a better proposition than most. Sold out home and away games when having to watch the pony we've had over the last god knows how long. We may not have a limitless potential when it comes to crowds but we all know that our potential will always be bigger than Brentford and Fulham. And look at them. Can't some benevolent mega rich person see that? |
