| Your Report | Brighton and Hove Albion v Southampton Your Report added at 12:26:44 Better. Might prove enough to keep the Martin out crowd away for a while! On the VAR: The infield decision was that Archer was offside. He wasn't so that got overturned - good use of VAR. (For those moaning about VAR use in this instance, the goal wouldn't have stood if VAR didn't exist!) The mistake in my view is then to use VAR in that moment to look for other minor issues. Yes Armstrong was offside but that wasn't originally noticed, or it was noticed but he wasn't deemed to be interfering with play. It's the overturning of that decision that is wrong in my opinion. It's not a clear and obvious error to say he wasn't interfering. If he was interfering then it was very marginal and not clear cut. The reason given (obstructing the keeper) is rubbish. As is always the case with VAR, the issue is not the technology it's the people operating it who seem determined to try to make decisions into a science. Overturn obvious mistakes but leave everything else alone |
| Your Report | Southampton v Leicester City Your Report added at 18:28:41 Probably an unpopular viewpoint but I think getting rid of Martin will make no difference. The team isn't strong enough mentally or skills-wise for the PL. There's also no point in us splashing any cash in Jan seeing as we've almost exclusively bought dross in the past in Jan. Derby County points total? |
| Your Report | AFC Bournemouth v Southampton Your Report added at 06:20:36 The gulf between the two sides was massive. Bournemouth will most likely finish bottom half. I don't fault Martin for setting up differently to start with. It was working pretty well and Bournemouth were surprised. Their first goal killed us, which shows how mentally weak we are (a common theme in recent years). One of the Bournemouth players said that they'd planned that free kick because we don't reset quick enough. That's ultimately a Martin fault but surely the players should be alert? The rest of the first half was terrible. Second half better but immaterial as Bournemouth were cruising. We don't have many players of PL quality, so I'm unclear what sacking Martin would achieve. Potter would be an upgrade. Have to play lallana as much as possible. Stewart looks good. |
| Your Report | Sunderland v Southampton Your Report added at 19:54:03 Part system error, part individual errors. The problem with relentlessly playing the possession game is that, unless you're man city, your players will mess up at some point and give the ball away. I feel like we need some versatility in our play: any team, like Sunderland, who are half-decent on the break will tear us apart because we're so predictable. Individual errors: Holgate was poor, but it's his first game so I can let him off. Bazunu continues to make errors... I don't see what RM sees in Manning. Defensively we still look poor. Really hope the guy from man city is quality |

| Your Report | Nottingham Forest v Southampton Your Report added at 08:31:11 Another abject performance to add to the list this season. Forest had a few game changers. We've just got dross. Stuart Armstrong was the only one with any attacking purpose. To be fair to AMN he was played totally out of position |
| Your Report | Brentford v Southampton Your Report added at 22:57:53 Can't see Jones lasting much longer. His team selection and post-match interview were both disasters. He's been backed in a way that Ralph never was but yet we're going backwards |
| Your Report | Newcastle United v Southampton Your Report added at 18:03:08 Not sure I agree with the negativity towards Diallo. by contrast, Alcaraz looked like he thought he was playing for the Saudis, there were that many misplaced passes. Hopefully just a bad performance as he's looked decent |
| Your Report | Southampton v Aston Villa Your Report added at 10:26:57 As a commenter on the daily echo said: It was Unai Emery Vs Dick Emery I don't understand why Orsic isn't starting. It's not as if the players starting are undroppable! |
| Your Report | Southampton v Brighton and Hove Albion Your Report added at 17:58:38 We look much worse than under Ralph. NJ has had weeks to work with the squad but no-one seemed to know what they were doing. You could see the players were confused. I was willing to write off the Lincoln performance as rustiness, but today can't be excused |
| Your Report | Crystal Palace v Southampton Your Report added at 15:57:44 Palace had their best midfielder out but yet we couldn't capitalise. Cannot score. The defence is so much better this season but if our attack can only muster one goal a game at best then we're relegated |
| Your Report | Wolverhampton Wanderers v Southampton Your Report added at 21:51:41 Quite predictable. 3 games in a week is a lot for some of the players, especially against a well-organised team like wolves. To be fair to Ralph, if he'd have rotated the team we'd all be complaining, so the guy can't win 😂 We really needed to buy a goal scorer in the transfer window to make it perfect. It's not as if the club didn't try, though. |
| Your Report | Burnley v Southampton Your Report added at 10:25:37 Predictable set up exploited by Burnley. The old adages don't always work: Don't change a winning combination Always going to be tough against a team fighting for their lives, but we made it so easy |
| Your Report | Swansea City v Southampton Your Report added at 21:10:19 Great result in the circumstances, albeit against a toothless side. I think it's not the first time Valery has been sent off(?), and I feared for him as soon as he got the first yellow. He's a decent player, but has to start learning from errors. Diallo continues to look like a class act when called upon. Shout out to Shane Long, who I've occasionally maligned on this forum! Well done all |
| Your Report | Leeds United v Southampton Your Report added at 20:55:50 Ralph's problem is he is so streaky. In the good times he's great, but in the bad times he has no answer. Top managers find an answer... Our performances in the second half of games is consistently awful, and tbf this was an issue before Ralph. I agree with comments above. We miss KWP and Walcott, but these players missing shouldn't be such a big issue! Leeds had more injury problems tonight |
