As I told you the last time I posted, about a year ago that we'd be growing fast and doing better than most.

Well I was wrong, we're the fastest growing developed economy and socialist france is going down the toilet.

I remember people laughing when I said we'd grow over 1% - we're on track to grow over 2% .
All indicators in right direction, sadly all welsh public services down pan due to labour welsh assembly incompetence.

But that'll never change, I realise that.

I cant believe the shite spouted on here about how wonderful things are going to be. The scum govt have spent more already that the whole term of the last labour govt. I despise what the Labour party have become. We have over half a million people using food banks, in fact dependant on them yet this govt refuses help from europe. A minister laughing as discussed in the the HoP. This is your scum parties attitude

"Labour's Sir Gerald Kaufman described McVey's speech as the nastiest he had heard in his 43 years as an MP."

enough said.

The b*stards are dismantling the NHS to privatise it, disabled people being force to work, the bedroom tax which has cause some to commit suicide.

Yep the richest 1% are making all the money in this fragile upturn

makes me fukin sick how people can support these c*nts

Paul, you can't be dependant on food banks. You are only allowed three food parcels from food banks who work with people to ensure that they receive proper advice in terms of benefits and other issues. You have to have a voucher from an agency of some kind to pick up a food parcel or have one delivered.

I know this because my missus spends half her life doing volunteer work for Swansea food bank, bless her. What is true is that the numbers using the food bank has exploded recently so you are right to highlight the issue.

Basically,we have over borrowed on our credit card.the national debt is almost out of control.

iTS still gotta be paid back whatever happens with interest.

Austerity is just one consequence of trying to cut back and pay off some of this debt.

I m afraid cut backs are going to be with us for many many years to come with no end in sight.

The days of booming house prices are over, watch as unemployment figures go down (allegedly) interest rates are about to go up.

That will open up a whole new world of pain for some.....

Umm, no I don't.

I favour competition and I have no problem with e.g. bringing private ideas/capital into NHS.

I don't go by ideology I go by what 'works' our system in Wales in nearly bankrupt and failing because we're tied to outdated socialist 'values'

Be honest how many times do you see individuals have to cross the border to get treatment on NHS? It's never the other way around, I know this from my own family.

That doesn't mean I don't support properly funded services, I do. That's why I favour fiscal conservatism over Thatcherism.

By the way on food banks, I'm sorry I simply do not believe that there isn't a significant amount of people taking advantage of them.

There are some needy people out but frankly I support their proliferation if that's the case.

It amazes me that people think we can recover from the biggest loss of output since the great depression (actually even larger) and go back to business as usual.

Under the circumstances we're doing exceptionally well compared to most.

No we're not - it wasn't long ago Germany was considered the 'sick man of Europe' but it made some big structural reforms while we binged on a consumer boom.

If we can shift mindset I think we can become stronger than them within 10 years.

Yes but the consumerist boom was a direct consequence of the Reagan/Thatcher axis of evil. The horse has well and truly bolted now. It's so nice to see you trying to put a positive spin on it though

Why bring competition into the NHS? How people use doctors, hospitals etc. isn't driven by market forces its driven by ill health and geography privitisation will just move the best the doctors and resources to the affluent South East. Competition only works where there is a genuine market privitisation of public services just drives public money into the pockets of private shareholders and more often than not results in less service for more money. See G4s, Serco, Atos, all rail and utility companies and PFI for proof.

As for services in Wales, as ECB has already said, our money comes from Westminster if they don't give us enough then its difficult to increase spending.

If man evolved from monkeys why do we still have monkeys?

You don't believe significant people are using food banks?

Since 09-10 the number of people who were fed by Trussell Trust food banks nationwide has risen from roughly 40,000 people to over 350,000 and has more than doubled in the last year. And that's just one organisations figures.

Huge amounts of people being unable to feed their families without the aid of charitable donations is a national disgrace. Over 2 million people in this country are malnourished and over 3 million are at risk of becoming malnourished. But you keep your head in the sand like the rest of the Tories because we've had a measly 1% growth.

Roll on 2015 when we can get this vermin out of Whitehall.

Well I look to e.g. Germany/France

They have a model of healthcare that is free at the point of use and have influence from the State/Charities/Private sector.

The stats prove they are far more efficient and deliver far better outcomes. In many Countries there wouldn't be such a thing as a 'waiting list' in this Country we're happy if we're looked after within 6 months.

It's ludicrous.

Which is still half the increase that the Labour Government was achieving at the last election, before the Tories got in and stopped that recovery.

Economies go in cycles of boom and bust and Osbourne hasn"t caused whatever growth there is - he just slowed it down from arriving sooner

Spot on - the recovery that Labour initiated before 2010 and was then blown out of the water by the coalition's ideological austerity nonsense after the election is always overlooked.

What we're seeing now is the inevitable growth after a recession. It was always going to happen, should have happened sooner but Osborne scuppered it for a few years in his rush to annihilate the public sector.

I'm sorry but this standpoint is from the David Blanchflower school of complete and utter horse crap.

I'll say it again at the point of the election we ran a deficit of 11.4% of gdp.

i.e. we were spending 160bn more than we were raising in taxation, we had pumped 300bn of new money into the system and had cut VAT to 15%.

Of course we were going to get growth, any old bellend would get growth with that model doing it on a sustainable basis is slightly more difficult.

#And I didn't even mention the eurozone crisis that hit post the election which shot the output of our biggest export market. If you think labour would have been hitting trend growth if they'd have won then you're living in fantasy land.
