We struggle to build boulevards ,cant replace the slip bridge, have a proportion of our city's people who piss and crap in the street....who the hell thought 10k would be enough to clinch such a prestigious title??

Was that fully grant funded, and was that grant entirely dependent on this title? Not clear at all. Everything I've read shows that no funding is actually dependent on this title.
Just heard on the radio that the 7 million renovation is still going ahead

Agreed this is good news, i've followed any developments of this venue for years.
One thing though, I'm sure I read it would have 800 seats? We already have the grand which has more than that. We should be looking at 2-3 thousand if we could. St David's in Cardiff has 2 thousand and obviously the CIA is a different level, so why are we looking to sell ourselves short again.
Ever since my son was... never conceived, because I've never had consensual sex without money involved... I've always kind of looked at you as... a thing, that I could live next to... in accordance with state laws.

Seriously though wtf is a boulevard? All those road works past the bottom of Wind St down past Tescos, what difference is it going to make? A disgraceful waste of money.

Its where you walk along when you have broken dreams.
The place will be f*cking packed mun.
I want a mate like Flashberryjacks, who wears a Barnsley jersey with "Swans are my second team" on the back.

Agree, add to that the rediculous road system along the Kingsway and Dilwyn street and that excuse of a 'museum' down the Marina. its truely awful.

Good to hear the Albert Hall renovation seems to be going ahead regardless.
If it wasn't to be us, I'm glad Hull won. Gets a lot of bad press, but it's a place that reminds me of Swansea a fair bit, not that I've spent loads of time there, but enough to like the place and people. Winning this will be of more benefit to them than it would have been to Leicester or Dundee.
I agree with those that question our decision to go with trying to win the bid under the banner of a made-up entity 'Swansea Bay' (that magically incorporates Carmarthenshire) rather than going with the City itself, kind of suggests we're not confident in the city itself which isn't good, especially when it's the 'City of Culture', clues in the title like...
Will be interesting to see if the Albert Hall redevelopment and return of the 2 events to Singleton Park still go ahead despite not winning this title.
Sadly, I don't think either will...

Seems a little convenient for the council to blame losing this for a failure to provide basic events to its citizens.
Swansea has been badly let down by councils of various leanings over the years. It's a city capable of so much more.
Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Singleton Park should be looking to stage 3 or 4 high profile gigs a Summer. Swansea Council needs to tie itself up with a reputable promoter that can get acts down here who can shift tickets. Not f*ckin Status Quo FFS.

Philip Larkin, arguably Hull's most famous poet was actually from Coventry and had inspiration from Kingsley Amis who was a lecturer at Swansea university whilst he was a librarian at the Brynmor Jones library at Hull university.
Come on conspiracy theorists.
An opportunity blown.

How about attempting to make Fflam happen again?haha!.
Hull winning must be a joke.
Haha I emailed Fflam with a video when that was first announced suggesting they get Cheap Trick to play there because of the song The Flame and they emailed me back saying great idea.

But that would involve just f*cking off out of the way and letting someone else run it. As we've seen with SSMC, that's something Swansea Council hate doing.

Offer the council some freebies, they'll be on it like poop on a shovle.
