Faurlin on 11:14 - Jan 11 with 1284 views | BAWHoops | I love Faurlin, as important as Taarabt in our promotion season and last year. But I do feel he can be overrun in the middle of the park. I wouldn't be gutted if we sold him but I'd sooner we got rid of Granero or Diakite. Give me Ale over Esteban W@nker Granero any day of the week. Only turns it on v the big boys and can't be arsed most the time. Hate him

Faurlin on 10:47 - Jan 11 by Hunterhoop | Good (except for that caveat bit). Knickers untwisted. Back in my box. Re. Beard, fair points made above. And I'm not going out on a limb and saying he's not been good in any of the jobs he's held. I just thought the comments my friend in the industry had to make on Beard are interesting. I also don't think he's done his job properly since being here. I'm not judging him on football management. I'm judging him on long term strategy of the club and the running of the club from 'engaging with fans', finances, 'building a brand', 'ensuring the future stability of the club', 'planning for the future' all the way to ensuring fans can get in the ground easily and they've got enough pies on offer so they don't run out. None of this is his direct job to make sure happens. But he manages everyone beneath him to make sure this all happens. It's not. This is what he is accountable for. Ergo, I don't think he's doing a good job. |
I think the comments from your friend are interesting. I guess we will see in the long term. When you say "I'm judging him on long term strategy of the club and the running of the club from 'engaging with fans', finances, 'building a brand', 'ensuring the future stability of the club', 'planning for the future' ...." Other than 'engaging with fans', which of the others do you think has been done badly? Particularly when measured against the previous 15 years out of the top league.

Livermore, Palacios, A N Other who can't get a game and it comes to pass. I think Harry has decided we aren't scoring because our 10 midfielders can't create a chance. I think he has a point. Still want Ale to stay though.

Faurlin on 13:37 - Jan 11 with 990 views | R_from_afar | + 1 He was majestic against Fulham. Another factor to bear in mind is that in his position in the thick of the action in centre midfield, if team mates get out of position or fail to track runners, he is going to be swamped by opposing players bearing down on our goal. On his day, he is our best midfielder, so why on earth would we want to get rid? RFA

Faurlin on 13:43 - Jan 11 with 971 views | baz_qpr | I'm a big Faurlin fan and I really like Diakete as well, but neither have covered themselves in glory since Harry arrived. Ale has been great whenever he is given the space to be, but is really struggling when he is pressed quickly. Samba put in one of the worst premiership midfield performances of all time against Liverpool live on the telly, and needs a lot of coaching. I think we should keep both for next season, but clearly Harry is not massively keen.
Faurlin on 13:48 - Jan 11 with 961 views | BklynRanger | From the sounds of that press conference it may be the case that HR has had a talk with Ale (he said he had this week) and explained why he's not starting. Maybe enough was said to prompt his agent to start testing the waters rather than the club starting to shop him around, possibly with permission or suggestions from the manager. HR said "unless we get 2 or 3 top, top, top midfielders in" he wouldn't want to sell him. At that point he was probably chasing Livermore and M'Vila, Ale had had the talk, so the agent started looking around. All speculation on my part of course, but from the sounds of it Ale's current position is uncertain but not terminal.

I'd start Ale over every CM in the club and Livermore, Palacious and almost all the CMs in the bottom half of the league. He's need to be rested fairly regularly further rehab take place to get him fully up to speed. He needs to be looked after. Everyone seems to be hinting, he's lightweight. He's not. He made the highest no. of tackles in the Prem by March last season and he'd been out injured since early Jan!! It's not that he's been lightweight this season it's that he's not been 100% fit and strong, as he's still coming back from a horrible injury. Plus he's been playing in a flat 4 midfield a lot this season, often next to someone playing badly, against a team playig 3 CMs. You do the maths! He's always going to get overrun. Now we're playing a 3 man midfield, he will shine if given the chance. In a 3 man midfield it should be him on the team sheet first, then Mbia then Derry, Granero, Samba.
Faurlin on 14:21 - Jan 11 with 906 views | BklynRanger | If Derry started on the left of a three against the scum then that would seem tailor made for Faurlin, Mbia in the middle of it, Granero on the right. Though Derry has earned another start to put it mildly.

Exactly, he's not fit and needs plenty of game time to get his sharpness back, which is why a loan would be perfect IMO.

I think, if managed properly, we can give him the game time here. He was excellent against Chelsea, Spurs and Fulham this season, but followed up 1-2 games later with a bad performance where he really struggled to keep the pace. In some instances, it was 2 bad performances. What this shows is he can play at his top level but not for endless games in a row. A proper management team with a proper rehab structure would be able to identify when is the right time to rest him. MH certainly didn't and HR hasn't appeared to grasp this.

We've managed him very badly since returning from injury. I couldn't believe Hughes returned him a month early and played him every minute of every game for the next month. Barmy.

I'll never get over Mullery. My first year as a season ticket holder after a few years of going 4/5 times a season and seeing clive allen destroy teams. Then Mullery came in with his f*cking sunglasses and his clueless manner and ruined us. that trip home he fined Stainrod for singing with QPR fans on the plane, he said anyone who has a problem with him come and see him tomorrow. Warren Neil reckoned the queue was longer than the one at chubbys burgers, every player turned up and told him he was a fully grown female anatomy that rhymes with brunt
