"Who will finish in the bottom three?" "I think most people would have got it wrong last year and predicted that Norwich, Swansea and QPR would have gone down. For all three of them to survive was astonishing. So it's hard to call but at this moment I would say Southampton would be one of them. I also think Wigan will struggle and QPR - despite surviving last year - could be in the mix as well."

Don't forget the defence improved massively over the last 10 games when fit and not changed each week.
A settled defence of Onouha - Anton - Hill - Fabio, shielded by Diakite and Faurlin is a hell of a lot more solid and difficult to break down than the defences we put out during the first 25 games last season (Hall, Gabbidon, Perone etc etc).
Plus the work rates of Faurlin, Park, Mackie, Johnson etc mean we can defend from the front much better.
Yeah that's what I'm getting at, a top top C/B wouldn't go amiss, but we ain't as badly off as some are making out.
It Is What It Is !!

Nuts magazine has us to finish 7th. I thought there were Nuts (Jonathan Pearce it was) but compared to this guy they are the font of football knowledge...

On paper we are better this year, but on paper we were better than where we finished last year. I would be staggered if the following clubs finished above us:
Norwich Reading Southampton Swansea West Brom West Ham Wigan
I think we'll be in the middle section this year with the likes of Fulham, Sunderland, Villa, Newcastle, Everton and Stoke

I fancy Stoke to struggle this year.
Looking at our opening fixtures we'd better get some points in the first two otherwise we'll be in the bottom three after five games.
I agree, just as I am not sure Tony Pulis has what it takes to carry on with this team and improving them. He's getting older now and has been with them for a while, maybe his commitment may drop and with fans already wants him gone could make rash decisions

While I dont expect relegation, I don't think we'll 'easily be mid-table' as we haven't address the major problem with the squad i.e central defence. Going into the season with Anton, Hill, Nelson and Onuoha is not an improvement on last year and I can see us shipping some goals.
Thankfully we will probably bring in a couple of players by the end of the month and we have enough goals in the team. But as we stand currently I see a lot of 3-2 defeats!
I think if we carry a much bigger threat (Cisse, Hoilett, Park, an inform Adel etc) many teams (non top six) would sit back at LR and prob not test our defence as severely ..bit like championship season where we didnt have the best defence but took it to opposition

Phil Thompson what a complete and utter waste of cells that man is.
His opinion is about as welcome as an errectial malfunction in the throws of passion.
Thompson predictions for the season just finished ...
Champions: Man Utd Second: Chelsea Third: Liverpool Fourth: Man City Fifth: Arsenal (assuming Fabregas and Nasri leave) Bottom three: QPR, Swansea, Wigan (but Newcastle will be in the mix) Top scorer: Javier Hernandez Best buy: Charlie Adam could be a bargain Worst buy: Too early to say! First manager to go: Too harsh to say!
