Schools 14:52 - Mar 1 with 11439 views | Spaceman_P | I'm sure a post of this nature has been done before. But as QPR fans we more or less have roots to West London and its suburbs. Which Schools did you all go to? Fond memories etc or the contrary?. I went Douay Martyrs in Ickenham, had no other choice due to moving to the area.... not a fan of the school but the time of my teen hood was okay and I had a laugh. Interested to hear bout everyone else's schools.

Brackenbury Primary School and then Holland Park Comprehensive. That was an experience! Became a primary teacher and worked at Lena Gardens and Queens Manor. QM too close to Fulham for my liking. Now a Headteacher in an adjoining borough. No QPR fans in the school population despite my hard work.

I was wondering how many Ark schools there are now! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ark_(charity) I didn't realise either that Ark is an acronym.

I didn't go to that school but I know it pretty well because, as an adult, I played 8 a side football there on Thursday evenings, for many years. I went to Aylesbury Grammar School. Man, did they work you hard! I used to have a ridiculous amount of homework My mate's brother also went to AGS. He was in a punk band and one of their songs went: "I'm going grow up to be a s3x p3rv3rt, It's the only thing I learned in an all-boys school". Make of that what you will. My experience there was pretty dull in comparison, but then he was in a lower year to me...

Yes 1 half of the school has already been flattened for a rebuild . It needed it to be honest . | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Latymer playing fields are still there right? I thought for years they were on the cards for some kind of sale / development.

Nope, there are several of us on here. The scrubs run or the round the river run. I preferred the latter as there were places you could stop for a crafty smoke.

lovely pitches the old latimer playing fields, played against you lot 3 times when i was at QK. won one, drew one, lost one. the pav across the road has been my local since 1975, even though i live in the bush now, the only remaining pub in that area is still my favourite, except match days before the game, but straight back there after. and yes, the latymer playing fields are still there.

Another one who went to Mount Carmel in Ealing and then Latymer. Felt like a fish out of water for years there but got to like it in the end. It’s quite the place these days, not a chance I can send my kids there! The playing fields were great, still there although I got an email the other day to say the school are moving to a new ground, they’re going to keep them as playing fields though and other schools are to use them. Used to love the runs round the river, the “bandstand” and the “Briault Cup”

Schools on 22:22 - Mar 2 by Pikey | Miles Coverdale until 1967 then Clement Danes until 1971. Plenty if Rs fans at both. |
In 1962, when Clement Danes was based in Du Cane Road, the school first team played a QPR team in a friendly at Loftus Road and won 4-3. The QPR team included Alec Stock who was manager at the time and George Bristow, whilst the Danes team was occasionally coached by the former England captain Billy Wright. There is a short Guardian article about the game in the link: https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2017/mar/03/first-time-playing-professi

My missus whent to Bishop Ramsay, early to mid-80's. And my Father-in-law was the head caretaker there from about 1981 until he retired in about 2007. I went to Berrymede primary & middle school (South Acton) from 81-87. Footy opponents that I can remember were... Southfields John Perryn Acton Green Christchurch Fielding Grange (I think) I'm sure there were others but I can't remember names. Then Ealing Green High School (in er... Ealing!) from 87-91. Footy opponents that I can remember were... Acton High Twyford Cardinal Wiseman Cardinal Vaughan Greenford Villiers Latymer Upper Northolt Walford Possibly Elm Park Brentside Drayton Manor There were others but I can't recall there names. Best times of my youth were those early saturday morning fixtures. Nothing better than having a cold, wet, muddy mitre ball being regularly aimed at me between the sticks! Loved it!
