Omagh inquiry 14:28 - Jan 28 with 493 views | trampie | The Omagh bombing was a terrible atrocity but now finally after many years of the authorities seemingly avoiding having an inquiry there is going to be one, apparently to see if the atrocity could have been avoided. Can any government be trusted to say the truth ?, will they not allow certain evidence, will they avoid having certain witnesses, will they blame another government , will they stick to their traditional neither admit or deny stance or will they throw one time employees under the bus. No It could have been prevented by eliminating the evil scum that planted bombs to kill our people . Maybe Gerry A knows who is responsible . They would good at slaughtering the innocent . Heroes to many though

I don't think anyone has been done in a criminal court (that has stuck) but people might have been sued and found guilty in a civil court, think that might have happened. I think this inquiry (if its going to fair and honest, is a big if) is about could it have been prevented rather than who did it, I might be wrong I'm only seeing something on the news about it now. Who's spies knew what ?, who did the spies tell (if there was spies)?, was it not acted on to keep moles undercover ? There again it might be a case of don't admit or don't deny if we had people on the inside or not, if that is going to be the attitude it would be a sham. [Post edited 28 Jan 15:27]

No-one has ever been convicted of the atrocity, surely, if they couldn't find the culprit/culprits at the time, how the hell is this enquiry going to do so now, being that over 26 year lhas passed. More money for the legal profession.

I would have thought that Gerry A was on the ceasefire side at that particular point in time, the so called hardliners did not agree with him doing deals with the English led UK state, I'm sure he knows a lot but not so sure he would know about the ins and outs of that particular incident.

It's about could we have prevented it, what did we know, did we chose not to act, I'm not convinced the truth will come out, the Government won't want to be seen as taking an active part in a dirty war.

As I said, over 26 years years has passed, some of the people involved have passed away, and memories fade after such a long time, just my opinion, but the only ones to get anything out of this enquiry is the legal profession.

The Government want to be seen to be doing the right thing but no doubt the powers that be will do it in a chorgraphed way as not to show themselves in a bad light if they can.

As I said, just a money maker for the lagal profession, and just they love historical inquiries so they can muddy the waters even further.

There are people in this country, dare I say simple people that think a government inquiry will be the whole truth and nothing but the truth, lol, think on, mind you they think the same about court cases, if somebody is found not guilty they think they are 100% innocent of the crime and if they are guilty they think they 100% done the crime, more enlighten people know its not always the case. Have we had a public inquiry into the Lockerbie disaster, no I thought not, our government up to their necks in shady actions over the event and don't want a public inquiry into all those deaths.
