Currently into my 15th hour of waiting to see a doctor and the brains trust reckon when Prince Phillip A&E Morriston will be able to take up the slack , no drunks were hurt in the making of this post

15 hours, it's insane. We need more A&E depts, we need more staff, we need more beds so people can move through the hospital, we need the cottage hospitals back to ease bed blocking.

People are dying waiting for ambulances and even when you get to the A&E...15 hours and counting. It's just not good enough.

All that for sure plus A&E only catering for ACCIDENTS and EMERGENCIES!

When I’ve been there and seen people who clearly don’t meet the criteria clogging up the system, I see red mist.

I'm ok & thanks all , it's unrelated to the other issue I have ,more sof a skeletal / spinal problem. Now in my 18 hour wait not looking for sympathy but just highlighting the issues we have ,many of my companions are really elderly and it must be distressing for all involved, strange though no drunks were involved in the making of this epic production , so far that is

Its not just for Accidents and Emergency these days, they have out of hours GP's there now to deal with general local surgery patients, NPT A&E is just Nurse led these days, no Doctors on duty there, if a doctor is required the send you off to Morriston A&E.

My brother in law hasn't been well of late, went to Morriston last week and he gave up after 12 hours.

You really don't want to be ill these days you can't see a GP, and unbelievable waits at the hospital, and hour upon hour wait for an ambulance!

Sincerely hope everything is ok Boundy👍

Funnily enough when I went into triage the nurse asked me or rather told me that I should have gone to my doctor , I politely informed her that the surgery call back system was full , prior to my visit to A&E I went to Singleton thinking that the walk in physiotherapy department was still operating but alas that was stopped during COVID and never restarted.
Spoke to a very nice physiotherapist who after discussing my symptoms with me suggested I visited A&E as a matter of urgency hence my visit.Loud speaker announcements made during the night was suggesting that some may won't to rethink why they were here ,many did and left.

If you are referred to Morriston by a GP you will be directed to SDEC (Same Day Emergency Care), and find yourself in a similar waiting room to A&E where the wait isn't much better.

Letting over 2 million into the country between July 22 and June 24 hasn’t helped.
Only a small number of them were Dr’s and nurses.
2 million more for the NHS to cater for.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

There hasn't been 2 million let into Wales.

There is only one functioning A&E dept for the whole od Swansea, NPT and surrounding areas. That's a huge population to cope with

Can someone tell me what GPs are doing now that makes them so busy compared to before covid?

Doing consultations over the phone, every time I visit my surgery to pick up a prescription, there's barely anyone in the waiting room.

And even when you phone in now the receptionist will ask what's wrong with you, before deciding if your information can be passed to a Doctor.

Very true, but when it comes to arrivals (gross immigration) the official figures say 1.3 million plus 1.2 million, so it is actually 2.5 million arrivals in that two year period. If you roll the clock back a year or two the arrivals since then outnumber the population of Wales.

The ‘Ask my Gp’ system works quite well in the Gorseinon area.
You have to be early online to state your problem and a doctor with contact you by phone during the same day.
My wife used it recently, a doctor rang within a couple of hours and wanted to see her within an hour of calling.

My son had a earache recently, I told him I thought it was ear wax. They rang the doctor while I was in work, rang me to say he had to go to the hospital. I came home from work and drove him down. He was sent to "Urgent Primary care" which, as I found out there and then is just another doctor seeing GP's patients.

I had been under the impression the doctor had seen my son and sent him straight down as an emergency, turned out (as II found out later) my wife had only spoken to the doctor on the phone and the doctor said take him to "UPC" in MPT.

It was just ear wax though and he as prescribed drops.

WTF is the point of a local GP when they won't even see you. One look in his ear, a prescription, it would have taken 5 minutes.

GP's got a massive pay rise, new contracts but since Covid they do bugger all, they take phone calls, palm you off somewhere else and cause chaos. It's shocking.

Phome our GP these days and every day they say their only seeing urgent cases....isn't urgent when you go to minor injuries or A&E and who decides what is urgent, if I don't feel well how do I know how serious it is? I could have a pain in the chest, it could be indigestion or a heart attack.

I woke with a large swelling on my eyelid, I suspected it was an insect bite from cutting the hedges the day before.

Went to my local hospital minor injuries dept, nurse told me to go to the local opticians ffs.

I agree.

But the vast majority of those are here completely legally. The problem is a massive lack of investment.

It's now 5 to 5 and now been here for 25 hours ,the reason is that the doc who show me at 0800 this morning didn't refer me to the spinal unit as he should have so there's me waiting for the results of the x-ray he so kindly arranged for me I find that I should have and now have been seen by two consultants who carried out a full examination and forwarded the info onto someone else to decide whether I need another MRI scan ,this was after me chasing them up , I'm now waiting and wondering whether this information has been passed on.I've never criticise d the NHS but talking to my new friends I'm not an isolated case.Im beginning to despair as to whether I'll ever get out out of here.

I spent Tuesday in SDEC. The service I got was exceptional, but a very long wait.

What amazed me was at least 3 people, they seemed to be addicts of some description, being provided with Taxis to get home / back to town. I mentioned it to the nurse and she said they just want to see them out of the place.

What a waste of money.
