Though anyone can write anything at any time, of course, I find it quite bewildering and troubling to be writing a piece about MC's exit, unless you do, at some level, want him out.

Perhaps you're already also writing a puff piece about Warburton coming in by the same token? But why stop there? As any manager will be sacked sooner or later, perhaps we could have a 'say hello, wave goodbye' Soft Cell-type greeting for all future incumbents, welcoming them to the club while speculating about the manner of their departure.

It's a strange time to be a QPR supporter, that's for sure, and it looks like just about everyone is losing the plot, or following their own agendas, one way or another.

Either way, my head hurts.

With reagrd to writing obout Marti's exit, I think that's called prep work, based on years of experience?!

As for your head hurting, try and stop banging it against the same wall.

I'll ignore the entirely needless "Warbs puff piece" barb and say simply I'm surprised somebody of your supposed excellence and experience in editing is asking a question like this.

Do you not think The Times has got a David Attenborough obit on file? Does that mean they do, at some level, want him dead?

Quite simply it's not the sort of piece you want to be trying to write in the Cardiff Premier Inn at 2am next Thursday morning.

If they force Cifuentes out & keep Nourry in place & think the fans will swallow that they're more naive than even we think.

The fans need to make their voice heard at the Stoke game,

Bcos if they force Cifuentes out, keep Nourry and don't bring in Warburton, can you imagine the mood in the Dressing Room and in the Stands?

We are bottom of the league and the overwhelming majority of those turning up at LR every week don’t even know who the DOF is at the club, let alone have an opinion of him.

If/when they sack Cifuentes, for the majority of fans it’ll just be next man up with a tiny minority demanding Nourry go.

For God's sake.

Clive is a professional journalist and we're lucky to have him running this site for peanuts.

As a professional, out of respect to the readers (us), to Cifuentes himself, and to his own professionalism, he's not going to want to have to rush out a retrospective on Cifuentes at an hour's notice.

Not so sure about that. A lot of the yoof on the Twittersphere are equally unhappy at Noury.

I wouldn't be surprised on Saturday to here the first chants for Noury out once Stoke take the inevitable lead.

Have you got one fir Noury? If not, could I suggest 'He came, He saw, Didn't like what he saw but still managed to fck it up and make it worse. The End'.

Quite a few accusations about hidden agendas flying about.

Genuinely curious to know what people think they are, other than differing views on how to make QPR more successful.

Do you think, from everything we know about him (and like you I’m a huge fan and would have him back here in a heartbeat) he’d be able to let a manager manage underneath him.

I think he’d v quickly be wanting to do that job too.

Warburton had 2 stints as DoF at Brentford and couldn’t wait to manage and threw his toys out the pram when Rosler got the managers job ahead of him and he remained as DoF.He also turned down the opportunity to follow Rosler to Wigan as DoF and stayed on to manage Brentford. He wants to have complete control and is never content until he has.No surprise that he hasn’t had another managers job since leaving QPR.

Hahaha. I genuinely laughed out loud at this post.

'Bewildering and troubling' that Clive has already started to write Marti's post-sacking article...

Imagine being bewildered and troubled by that. What's been happening SE? Restless nights? Waking up in cold sweats? Staring into space in the shower? Days off work for 'personal reasons'?

Are you ok hun.... you haven't touched your breaded chicken dinosaurs or your alphabets potatoes? Yeah I'm ok... It's fine... It's just that Clive has already started writing the goodbye article to a QPR manager that I've relentlessly slagged off for the last 12 months... I'll be ok though, don't worry.

Quite often I let some of the needless side-swiping posts on here anger me. This one though is nothing short of attention starved comedy. You have to take your hat off to just how far the disregard for anyone else on the planet goes with this one. Anything for a reaction.

Oh sh!t I've gone and given him his reaction again. Oh well it's done now.

Problem is if we lose to Stoke which is quite probable are you going to get a lot of vocal support for the manager? I'm not sure you will

Not a Chance Warbs comes back, he fell out with the owners as well as Ferdinand, just won't happen

Terribly sorry for a mild note of querying dissent (and embedded point) that obviously scares one or two on here, who feel they have to behave like cult monitors (and as if Clive can't speak for himself if he chooses to).

I should think anyone who writes anything interesting on this board wants a 'reaction' of some kind, or what's the point?

I'd crawl back in my merely 'amateur' shell, but, oh yes, I'm a professional writer/editor myself (with, shock horror, opinions, questions and concerns). If you don't like that, or them, quite honestly I don't know why you don't find something else to do with your day.

And let's not forget that Warburton likes to sign his former players!

Which manager would be comfortable with a changing room full of the DoF's favourites?

And while it's unfair to compare Warburton to Harry Redknapp, we shouldn't forget that HR became Sporting Director at Pompey in 2001 and was managing the team eight months later!

Being on the spot gives a huge advantage if a position becomes vacant.

Given Warburton's history here I think most managers would feel undermined if he came in as DoF. And if the chance arose I don't think he would be able to resist returning to the dugout.

So, much as I like him and regretted him going, I think it would be best for all concerned to leave the past alone.

But this is QPR, so he'll probably be back before Christmas! Closely followed by Moses and Andre Gray in the January sales.

Give us a break.

You chose to make a whole uncalled for swipe at Clive, accusing him of at some level wanting Cifuentes to go, merely because he said he'd acted like a professional and done his preparation, like he does for countless stories, some of which never happen such as transfer news.

And your excuse is that it's all about providing a reaction. That's textbook definition of trolling and I'm fed up with it, in social media generally. It's not about a cult of Clive-worship, it's about keeping this place civilised.

Let's be honest here, shall we?

It's never a "mild note" from you is it, but either a paranoid, delusional sign of either an unwarranted personal attack, or an apocalyptic portent of impending doom that we'll never recover from.

Either way, you do appear to have a sense of grandiosity that is almost Trumpian in it's manifestation, which I would imagine doesn't make you particularly easy to be around on a daily level.

When the majority are saying more or less exactly the same thing, perhaps the person pointing the finger might think its worthwhile reflecting on what they are saying and adjusting his behaviour accordingly...

I hope Marti can get us going and we stay up. Either way, stay up or go down can't see him staying next season, unless by some miracle we make a dramatic surge up the table into a top half position. If we do drop then we need a totally different dynamic in League 1 anyway. Warburton I think would be perfect to start the re-build, although as mentioned by others he has probably burned his bridges with the owners, a change of ownership and you never know. Never say never to going back especially if the circumstances are right.

Didn't Mark say he'd turned down Champ clubs?
Why would a L1 basket case with no money be more attractive?

--Not having a dig, just trying to be realistic.

I liked MW, I think his thoughts on our youth setup were correct at the time. Its a shame he didn't get to realise the new shared training ground, as this can/could really help get that development back on track.

OR, we decide that if the A* kids all want to sign for Chelsea and other AAA academies then we just scrap it all and pick up older cast offs and just run a B team.??

Well, yeh, but it's a vast sport. Most clubs have people in that role now. Other folk are available who haven't been at QPR before.

QPR can be rather guilty of always looking for a returning figure from the past to come bail us out, there are lots of people out there. Though of course people like that do bring a welcome understanding of the club and its fans presently lacking.

Experience is the key though, for me. It's a really difficult club and job.

Problem with our fans (is it this same at other clubs??) is we keep looking backwards with rose tinted glasses. When the past was not that rosy to start with.

We need to look ahead and how we can improve our club without reverting back to old names. But I can't see that happening with the current owners when their decision making on football matters has been found lacking every time.

I think Dom Ball, Richard Dunne, Clint Hill, Nakhi Wells and Jamie Mackie could all benefit the club in different capacities and Shaun Derry surely could take over a new role as QPR President !!

But in reality whilst Warnock has the ability to breathe he should always be considered for the hero's return !!

Warburton tenure was ultimately cut short due to poor management from above.
I'm hearing a lot of Nourry out posts but not a lot about who would replace him. I'm no expert, far from it, but Warburton would be my choice.
So what if he would want full control of everything at the club. I mean, who exactly is doing a decent job anyway. ? Apart from our community stuff and the kit man.

Question is, why can so few of our fans see this?
