Bizarre Incident At Molyneux 09:32 - Nov 11 with 1412 viewsSaintNick

As the game entered the last minute of injury time at Wolves, we decided to head for the exit to make an earlier train.

IN the concourse we were greeted by the sight of about 100 or so Saints supporters trying to get out of the ground through a single turnstile, with a Wolves steward refusing to open the exit gates saying it was club policy.

As more Saints fans started to leave, he still refused to open the gate and things started to get heated, there were Police there who just stood around and watched, speaking to one of them he said it was nothing to do with them it is the club who decides.

The steward started to taunt Saints fans a little and this notched things up.

Just as it could have turned ugly, the final whistle went and the absolute **** of a steward opened the gate and people poured out.

Not sure what this was all about, what was the big thing about letting people leave through an exit gate

To be honest Nick, I have never enjoyed a visit to Molyneaux irrespective of the result or before, during or after a game. They are not a nice bunch at all and it is not a nice place - fans, staff or around the ground. I go out of loyalty to my team and that it is it.

Totally agree horrible place & not an enjoyable experience. Might improve slightly if we could actually win there!

One and only time I went there was with a small band of Saints fans in 1966 when Dave Webb on his debut scored our goal in a 1-1 draw.
Saints then went on an unbeaten run to record their first ever promotion to the top division.

Also fondly remember beating Wolves 9-3 at The Dell after conceding an own goal in the first 5 minutes, were 6-2 up at HT, scoring the ninth with about 20 minutes left and then hitting the wood work two or three times otherwise it would have been double figures.

We then went out and bought Wolves 'keeper, Dave MacLaren!!!!!
