With deference to the excellent under-rated thread - and the fact that I have a vastly different opinion on Holloway to most - who are the Rangers players / managers that you haven't liked or rated when the majority of R's fans really liked and rated? I guess...those you just don't....get? Can be controversial....like these.....

I never liked Holloway as a player, nor as a manager. Don't think coming second in League One on the biggest budget made him or his team "legends". I know that puts me in the minority.

Ale Faurliin - I never thought he was THAT good. Not as good as many appear to make out, anyway. *ducks for cover*

David Bardsley - lovely bloke, thought he was made to look far better than he was by Les latching on to his punts up the channel. Remember when Les went, Dichio plodding after them didn't look as great. Prone to too many errors, too. Obviously, with the experience of seeing every right back afterwards, I think I was spectacularly harsh.

Don’t know how this is going to go down and I don’t know if my memory serves me correctly ,But ….
Andy Sinton very a good player but I don’t know the stats but when we were struggling or losing in a game he always seemed to get subbed or got injured
Ray Wilkins RIP
Lovely man , and scored a couple of great goals for us but never thought he was that great for us and I think it was him who spunked the Les money ….or it might just be he played for the unmentionables
GOAT for me ,the proper Legend Macca RIP

Oh my god. Wilkins? He was totally unbelievably class. Apart from maybe when he was player manager at 39 or whatever - only a few games in the Championship I think.

Other than that - best player I ever saw in the hoops I think.

I admire your bravery putting Bardsley and Faurlin on here almost as much as I disagree with it!

Here's my one - Luke Freeman. I thought he was decent but overated.

Ryan Maning as a left back - yes great going forwards, but terrible defensively and his diving...still would have loved to see him in midfield.

Poll: Will we stay up?

Ha - I think that was my point. There always seems to me players that you don't "get" when everyone else does.

I am with some posters here on Bircham, Derry, etc.

But, then again, I am stunned at the Wilkins comments.

It just goes to show how we all see it differently....

Faurlin was still the midfielder with the most successful tackles in the Prem in March when he did his ACL in Jan. He passed the eye test, but he was also statistical porn. If he hadn't have played in that MK Dons debacle he would've gone on to huge things

Did you never see Adel play? You missed a football genius.

The grass is always greener.

Of course I saw Adel play, excellent player. But better than Wilkins? (as an all-round contributor to the game, obviously he was more skillful / talented), Never!

In fact, not even in the top 4 best R's players I've seen: (Wilkins, Les, Parker, Kakay)

OK, this thread is clearly a wind up. If u seriously think that Wilkins wasn't that good a player then WTF!

He made that great team of the late 80s early 90s tick, everything went through him. Watch any highlight and he is always involved.
Best player ever to wear a Rangers shirt as he always influenced the game.

And for those saying Tarabt, b0ll0cks, he never did it in the PL. Wilkins did at 35/36 and was still the best player on the pitch, opposition included. Sheer class apart.

Rant over...... (sh!t manager though, I'll give u that)

He was only one-off winning the golden boot in 90/91 had he not missed a penalty at Sheffield United would have jointly won it.

In Bardsley: I remember going to watch Hastings v QPR 11 in the early 90’s when Dichio was 17/18 years old and Bardsley was coming back from injury (he’d just won his first England cap).

Hastings played everything down the other side and deliberately avoided Bardsley. QPR 11’s on the other hand played everything through Bardsley.

A week later, i went to see Ashford Town v West Ham 11’s. There was the same situation with David Burrows playing for wet spam. David Burrow was overrated however.

I'm in the opposite camp, my one big gripe with Gerry Francis is that I think he never got Wegerle and as a result we missed out on maybe three seasons of a Wegerle/Ferdiannd partnership that would have been beautiful.

But I do see where you're coming from.

Good idea for a thread, I'm going to have to think about this one

OK, got mine faster than I thought, and probably another for the "I was your and stupid" category, but: John Gregory

In my own defence, I think it was about me really loving a lot of the other players in that team, so Gregs didn't stand out.

GAVIN PEACOCK.

Man, people suck his holy cock right off but he was NUMBER ONE BULLSHIT.

Yeah, look. If we were two or three up at home, he looked pretty good. But when we needed a performance out of the man, he was f**king anonymous as f**k. A shit, slow luxury we couldn't afford.

And I still reckon there was some f*ckery going on with his penalties.

Do you remember? He always put them low to the left of the keeper. Anyway, eventually one of them figured that out and saved one. But there was some sort of problem and so the ref said we had to retake it. Rather than, you know, pick another spot to put the ball, Gavin gave up the penalty to another one of our players.

What the F**K is that SHIT? Did he have some sort of bet that he could only put penalties in that one place? Did he have some sort of MUSCLE MADNESS where he could only shoot in that direction? Did he have some sort of OCD that meant that if he placed it anywhere else, he'd go to ACTUAL HELL?

Man, f**k Gavin Peacock. He's a BULLSHITMAN.

Apols if I've posted this before. Was (back in 2002) working for a private wealth manager who had employed one of the 'big 4' accountants to help dig us out of some sh1t. We were their premier client and were invited to attend a sportsmans dinner in Knightsbridge. I was the man on the ground project manager and we were given a place at their top table. I was sat next to Jeremy Guscott who was the 'headline attendee' and as I liked rugby and of Welsh ancestry was given a place next to him. Because 'we would have so much in common' He was a complete knob. Arrogant with no interest in anyone at a human level. As I am Welsh I had no fuc king interest in him either. It wasn't a genial couple of hours.

Gavin Peacock was hosting another table. Once Guscott and I had agreed that each other were both wnakers I spent a few hours with Gavin (joined by Steve Perryman QPR fan at some point).

Whatever we may think of Peacock's current twitter persona he was brilliant company, a dyed in the wool QPR fan and dismissive (although respectful of Newcastle and Charlton) of 'other' clubs he played for.

For that evening alone I'll ignore Peacock's current twitter murmurings and just be grateful that he rescued me from Guscott and was a pretty decent midfielder

I never rated Marc Bircham. Sure he loved the club, we all do, thats why we're at Loftus Road watching the team or posting on a messageboard. But for someone who apparrently turned down top flight moves, I just expected a bit more. Just never did it for me

I remember when he dyed his blue for a midweek game against Millwall IIRC and they were singing "he's got birdshict in his hair.'

That made me chuckle.

He was a great enthusiastic character, worked hard and an R but was a bit crap.

A poor man's Holloway.

Kenneth Paal up until this season - couldn't defend, offered nothing going forward and yet praised frequently by others. This season different story; he is looking good.

Freeman - never got him.

Can we go out yet?

Macca, never gets in my all time XI and always thought there were better centre backs at the club. Not sure he was first choice for quite a few of the 15 seasons he was with us.

Club legend and leader no question, but he did struggle to get in the team for a few seasons when he was at his peak.

Did he? Not when he was at his peak, surely? I know in his latter season he had an injury or two and didn't get back in the side that often, but when he was at his best?!

Andy managed Fleet Town FC about 18 years ago where both my boys played and he regularly came down to watch the kids train which was brilliant.
I remember talking to him and I mentioned that I thought he was always injured - he was NOT happy with that at all. He said he held some sort of record for most consecutive appearances.

Genuinely shocked at some of the names coming up on this thread.

The thing about Bardsley and Wilson was, they were both good defenders, but my god when we had possession, it was like having four wingers in the team.

They had either Impey, sinton/Sinclair in front of them, would constantly overlap, just look at the goal highlights from early 90’s and see how many of them were created by our full backs.

Wilson one of our best penalty takers too, never thought he’d miss, (unlike when barker stepped up to take one.)
