Bazunu 22:57 - Feb 27 with 7539 viewscocklebreath

Just read some stats about him and it seems he’s as bad as I thought. Bottom of every goalie this season and apparently the worst stats ever for a premier league goalie, saving just 55% of shots. As a team we have the 5th least shots on goal against this season but only 2 teams have conceded more. I can’t believe how bad our goalies have been, McCarthy was the worst in the league last season and he’s far superior to young Bazunu.
What a sh!t show.

Bazunu on 21:33 - Apr 15 by dirk_doone

1-2 vs Wolves, 2 shots on target faced
0-1 vs Forest, 1 shot on target faced
1-2 vs Fulham, 2 shots on target faced
1-4 vs Newcastle, 4 shots on target faced

0-2 vs Palace, 2 shots on target faced

He must surely be extending his lead as statistically the worst goalkeeper in the history of the Premier League. It's a record that may never be broken.

Last season, " statistically we were within the top 5 fewest chances and shots on target faced each game, but Bazunu's underperformance was both the worst in the league by almost double, and the worst the PL has ever seen."

He's continuing to break records as statistically the worst goalkeeper ever in the Championship. Why on earth is this being allowed to continue? Incredibly, we'd currently be top of the league if we'd had an average Championship goalkeeper this season.

Something must be terribly wrong with our goalkeeper recruitment and coaching that the 2 worst goalkeepers in the league both end up here. Just sack the lot of them and start again. It will cost us a hell of a lot more if we don't.

I guess it's because he's very good with his feet. The same reason why most of the team are selected. They all fit in perfectly with the tippy tappy style. Which is absolutely fine if you score five goals every week. But not so fine if you don't and you end up needing to defend for your lives. It's a dilemma. Some of our play last night was a joy to watch, like a throwback to the Keegan era, but then some of the defending was like watching us last season. Ultimately, if Russell Martin wants to succeed here long term he'll either have to adapt his playing style, or bankrupt the club by bringing in some new players who can fit in with it.
Still, it's now essentially a three game season. And maybe with so much at stake in the play-offs they won't all stand around in the 97th minute staring at the ball while a bloke lying on the ground toe pokes it into the net. We shouldn't give up hope just yet.

More Bazunu stats from Saint Matty 76:

1-2 vs Wolves, 2 shots on target faced
0-1 vs Forest, 1 shot on target faced
1-2 vs Fulham, 2 shots on target faced
1-4 vs Newcastle, 4 shots on target faced

Bazunu's super power seems to be to be a miraculous ability to let shots go straight through him. Sometimes when you look at how he's let a goal go through him, you think, how on earth did he do that? Surely, any ordinary mortal from the crowd, lacking his super power, would have stopped at least one of them.

It's a sobering thought that all of the money Saints' fans have paid to the club this season wouldn't cover the millions spent on Nathan Jones and Bazunu. It's just as well for him that Ankersen and co are clueless at stats or, like Nathan Jones, he wouldn't be as rich as he is today.

Let’s not also forget letting in two goals in the dying minutes at Arsenal last season.

They were top of the Premiership and we were bottom. Had we won it may well have reignited our whole season resulting in us avoiding relegation.

Lumley must look like hes only got one arm in training to have not replaced this clown

You have to question why 3 successive managers keep playing him though. He's been making the same basic errors the entire season and it's glaringly obvious the lad needed to be taken out of the firing line months ago. It's almost as though they've been told to keep picking him.

The reason 3 managers have played him is the alternative is Lumley or old man McCarthy

Your comment made me smile sledger, thanks.

Alternatively perhaps they only let Bazunu use the six a side goals?

Letting Forester go when he had regained his mojo and deciding to keep Mccarthy was crazy. Jack Butland could of been signed on a free last summer.

Theres no point Saints bringing young keepers through as Gunn and Baz have proved. If by chance they come good we have 3 seasons of misery before they come good then they straight to bigger club.

None of our keepers are good enough, end of
It’s been our down fall since we let Forster go or someone decided McCarthy was better

With all these stats, why are they not being fed into the 'magic box' at Staplewood, to come to the same conclusion we all seem to have ?

He definitely, needs a rest, especially now we are out of automatic promotion.

Who, in their right mind, would have picked Bazunu against Ipswich after seeing this???? The Ipswich players must have been rubbing their hands with glee. Does nobody at our club ever research anything, apart from passing stats?

Anyway, what genius thought he was "good with his feet"? He's about as good with his feet as a one-legged penguin.

Ironically, the best (and only save) in those highlights was at the very end - and from the Ipswich keeper.

He needs dropping. I know he's young etc etc - but he needs dropping & taken out the firing line. I couldn't give a toss who replaces him - I really couldn't - because they simply aren't going to be any worse than him... and that includes McCarthy.

The stats don't lie.

When will someone - anyone - at this football club wake up to the fact that for far too long now, we have had one sh1t keeper after another for too long?

Still some saints fans back him, that annoys me nearly as much as the manager refusing to drop him or the club’s inability to find a decent keeper.
