Salford match thread 20:23 - Nov 8 with 9209 views | RotherhamDale | 32 mins in and I can see why nobody could be bothered to discuss the game. Awful so far. It's almost as if our players aren't allowed to sprint.

Salford match thread on 22:05 - Nov 8 by jonahwhereru | Well tonight Rochdale must love Ian Henderson more that he could know. It was a tortuous and convoluted journey but congrats to him on a remarkable achievement. The likes of which will be rarely seen at a professional level in the years to come. Well done my son. It was all about the result tonight and if you don’t concede you always have a chance, mission accomplished. I do like the cut of EBJ’s jib. |
He should have had the record two years ago but the scum who were running the club at the time did not want him taking the spotlight. Sooooo glad he was able to come back and finish what he started under appreciative leadership. Obviously not the player he was….but we knew that. MoM was a bit much given he didnt do much else …..it ahould have been brierley…IMO …he changed the gamewhen he came on. A night to remember……I was there when Reg set the record and lucky enough to be there when IH broke it. I can die happy😊

Big Kindo will be along soon to tell us he was there when Albert Whitehurst set the first record...

Salford match thread on 23:48 - Nov 8 with 2169 views | 442Dale | One thing worth noting about his departure two years ago is that it allowed Henderson to break the record in front of Dale supporters. If he’d stayed it’s almost certain he’d have got the four goals required during the Covid season played without fans.

Salford match thread on 01:31 - Nov 9 with 2023 views | RotherhamDale | That's a big win. I couldn't watch the second half but great to see the videos of the scenes after the game. Things obviously improved. Well done Hendo and good work from EBJ to make the change with Brierley

Salford match thread on 22:59 - Nov 8 by DaleiLama | I think Norman had been supping Cherryade through a straw before he came on? |
Yep hardly enlightening to anyone, he couldn't remember Rathbones name or Quigleys bless him, could still manage to be on the whole negative somehow.

Salford match thread on 21:29 - Nov 8 by 442Dale | Obviously the congratulations go to Henderson for breaking the record, but you’ll struggle to find a better ball played by a Dale player than the one played by Brierley to set it up. He’s been excellent since coming on. |
Brierley some player... Hope he did enough to earn a start on Saturday. Looks a division above every time I see him play. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Salford match thread on 09:07 - Nov 9 with 1615 views | Barrowdale | No I’m not Norman although he was funny! Whichever way way you want to see it though, we had 35% possession at home. That’s not good enough. Salford made two or three horrendous mistakes at the back, pissing around with it even though we had retreated to the half way line. Imagine what they might have done had we at least tried to press them. I understand Ebj may feel constricted by the quality we have, and I like the guy and he might just perform a miracle and keep us up, but dont get excited yet because until Brierley lit up the park, it was poor. I await the return of Scott Gilbey!😹
Salford match thread on 09:13 - Nov 9 with 1581 views | Cedar_Room | First half we were poor. Such a lack of intent and if it wasn’t for Salford themselves being so poor they could have had a couple of goals. Second half we started much brighter the half time talk clearly set a rocket up their @rses but again Salford had at least 2 guilt edged chances one which came off the inside of the post which in the hands of a better team could have killed the game off. Odoh had a great chance well saved but otherwise we didn’t trouble the keeper much and have to think we are slightly lucky to get all 3 points. Brierly changed the game when he came on and showed exactly what we were missing in midfield. He needs to start on Saturday - Ball, Sinclair, Rodney were all anonymous and we show so little going forward with those players. Odoh manages to be both spectacularly useful with his touch, cross and shot and yet also the best out of that midfield because at least he does something and gets himself into good positions. Hendo showed how valuable he is to the team because just like the Tranmere game he had very little going on during the game yet popped up to score with his one real chance and he was exactly the man you would want to be there in that situation. His skill, experience and quality shine through in those moments even if for much of the rest of the match he can seem a tad anonymous. Really pleased I got to see the moment and loved all the celebrations at the end. To think we are now up to 19th after the disastrous start we had shows how well EBJ has done and if he’d started the season we may even be in a reasonable position now. Still of course a long way to go but that was a big 3 points against a team much higher up the league than us and indicates there is enough going on in this team now to think we might well claw our way to safety. Notable that I left the ground feeling very happy and that hasn’t been the case for much of the last few years. Thanks Hendo. Up The Dale.

You must have seen some of the BBM games where we had virtually all the possession and never scored?

We all see the game differently. I thought Salfords quick passing and movement was excellent during the first half and they carried a threat throughout. We beat a good team last night and i expect them to at least make the play offs. Sometimes i think we overlook the opposition and fail to realise that the way they set up and play is designed to keep us at arms length. They were very good on the ball.

I've yet to read a post where anyone has said we played well last night and that we aren't going to continue struggling. But at the end of the night, it was a time to celebrate Henderson's record and three much-needed points. The likes of Norman just needed to have a night off.
