Top 6. Surprised??? 11:43 - Sep 19 with 6685 views | QPRVAS | As we start the first international break of the season I thought I'd say that I'm pleasantly surprised to see us in the top 6. I went into the new season without any real expectation and although what we've seen has been a right mixed bag I'm now beginning to believe that if injuries are kind to us and we can bring in a striker in January who can score a few goals we might be able to make up for last season's disappointing ending. Come on you R's.
Top 6. Surprised??? on 13:24 - Sep 20 with 1845 views | Logman | I've been really impressed with Beale. I love the way he is so attacking and takes the games to the other teams. Just when I am thinking that there are no options for taking a team on he makes an attacking move. it's great. My worry remains that we will be bullied by the big physical teams (of which there are many in the Championship). Stoke let us off the hook a bit on Saturday but teams like Sheff U, Rotherham, Boro and several others will bully us. I'm looking forward to the Burnley and Norwich games. I'm looking forward to see how we go against teams who are good on the ball.

Thing is we’ve already played both Roth and Boro, we’ve gained 4 points!

Top 6. Surprised??? on 14:04 - Sep 20 with 1734 views | LongRanger | Really positive start, delighted with Beale and how he has got us playing so far, enjoyable to watch, but too early to think about the table its so tight top to bottom... and you have to think Sheff Utd, Norwich, Burnley and Watford will take 4 of the top 6 spots, so everyone else playing for 2 places.
Top 6. Surprised??? on 15:00 - Sep 20 with 1686 views | stanistheman | Pleasantly surprised to be there, but this is quite a tight league at present and if you look at the table we are only 5 points from the bottom 3. With tough away games at Bristol City and Sheff Utd I am not going to let myself get carried away by a 6th place at the International break.

Top 6. Surprised??? on 13:11 - Sep 20 by wood_hoop | This I feel is the right answer, tighter than hell in this division, nothing unusual then, one thing I am pleased with is MB seems to be getting across how he wants the team to play, like many have said still a way to go but so far very good. Like new players it takes time for the manager to settle in, after a rocky start seems to have got the majority of players on his wave legnth, the usual only time will tell, but you do need a bit of luck with the injury situation, just maybe he's a 'lucky manager'. |
Welli it IS a little unusual, as I posted in another thread PL = 7; League 1 = 7, League 2 = 9 and National League =9

It is typical Championship though. It's a league of attrition.

Top 6. Surprised??? on 21:57 - Sep 20 with 1401 views | davman | Top 6 After 10 games last season 1. WBA - final position 10th 2. Bournemouth - 2nd 3. Fulham - 1st 4. Coventry - 12th 5. Stoke - 14th 6. Blackburn - 8th Read in to that what you will. Two of them finished in the top 2, the mean position from these is around 8th. So, whilst it is a positive, it is not time to jump up and down. The league won't balance out until around 25 games. We all know that we are light in many positions. We all know that we lose two of our most influential players for a few games after the World Cup. We all know that injuries and suspensions are coming and that Travelman WILL have to play again. We know that Archer can only save one penalty before he gets injured and we have to employ another 5 'keepers. We know that the depth of squad Watford has that they will not be staying where they are. Same with 'Boro. West Brom are hindered by Bruce, but surely they will be turning draws in to victories soon? Millwall were poor against us, they won't be all season and are only 2 points behind. Stoke looked good and powerful on Saturday and are only 3 back from us. Then you have January - we can't strengthen unless we sell (*gulp*), but others will be ready to spend like Bournemouth last season to get them over the line with another 5 signings. So, lots WILL change. Rather be in the top 6 than where I thought we might end up with the pre-season injuries, it is nice to feel relatively safe that even QPR shouldn't have to worry about relegation with that bstrd hope giving a chance that we may even push on this time.

Top 6. Surprised??? on 00:24 - Sep 21 with 1300 views | Lblock | Pleased we’ve hit the first boring break in the top six but in reality I’m means little at this stage. I’m not really surprised as I thought we’d have a mixed bag of a season this year - said we’d flirt with both the bottom 3 and the top 6 before we finish in a safe position anywhere between the two. What’s key is absolutely obvious = keeping hold of certain players and those remaining fit. In Senny, Dunne, a firing Johnson, Field and (to an extent) Dykes we have a very decent spine. You then throw in the class and endeavour of Willock and Chair with the combined, and unexpected, ability of the new wing backs and things are looking really good. Take one of those out and you’re not as good, lose two with one of those being Paal or Laird as well and things go the other way; fast!! If we somehow added a striker in January without any sales OR one of the forwards went on a goal scoring glut for 5 months then hold onto your hats as this could be a hell of a ride.
| Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal |
