Let’s be honest a new squad should be fighting for places. Looks exactly like the BBM team we had couple years ago.
It looks nothing like the BBM squad. That had far more quality in it.
Stockdale’s biggest issues are the inflexibility of his systems, repetitive defensive mistakes and sending a side out that reflects what he wanted when he arrived: getting the ball into areas where we can look dangerous effectively.
This was happening until autumn last year, since then it’s been witnessed very sporadically. He solves these issues or he’s in trouble. It’s that simple.
At the moment yes. Last season was only ever going to be about firefighting. Stay up and start again this season. He’s now brought his own players in and got a bigger budget BUT we are one and a half games into a new season so give him time. Agree it’s poor just now but I think and hope he’ll turn it around. If there’s no sign of this by the end of November/ early December I agree he should go.
I know he lives in Darlington but it bothers me he left the forum early. I am sure that I'm probably overthinking and it shouldn't.
He didn’t leave early, they split it into two parts - manager first half, board second. It makes sense doing it that was as well as it stops bouncing between subjects.
If he’d had more questions, he’d have been there longer.

A misunderstanding on my part. But I feel like he should have been there for the duration even if he wasn't answering any further questions.

True about the quality of that squad I mean more in the way we are playing nobody has seemed up for the fight or stockdale hasn’t changed anything from last week. Carbon copy of goal last week today it does make you question what we did in training this week.
Good players don't turn rubbish overnight. We do have some good players and fingers will be pointed at the tactics. I'm by no means saying sack him after 2 games but if there's not wins soon, and we keep seeing the same mistakes, then he is at risk.
Being successful on the pitch is important but it's also crucial to protect the relationship between the board and the fans, now more than ever. Tension between the two would be awful for the club. I like Robbie as a bloke, but if things don't improve, he's not worth falling out over.
The one thing you can hang your hat on is that he’s going to play 3-5-2. I’ll be honest I’ve never been a huge fan of it. It tends to work better in leagues/countries where the game is played at a slower pace, as it doesn’t demand as much from the wing-backs. A lot of the time when you see it deployed over here, the wing-back ends up being neither an effective full-back or winger and the 3 centre-backs end up covering the full-back position whilst the 2 forwards get deprived of attacking width and isolated.

One of the reasons why 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 has come back into fashion is because there are less proper full backs about now. We need only look at Dale with O’Keeffe and Seriki. Neither would be classed as a right back.
Ironically, Keohane is probably the most traditional full back we have in terms of someone in the Wayne Evans/Tom Kennedy mould. Yet we often don’t see him as a first choice or as a utility player.

Yeah, fair point. I can’t help but think though that an average full-back would be a better full-back and an average winger would be a better winger if they didn’t have the entire length of the pitch to cover. Wing-back is an incredibly difficult position to play effectively. You’ve got to be super fit and very much an all-rounder. There’s very few good ones in the Premiership let alone in League 2.

Good wing backs are much like good 5 yard passes from the keeper. There are some around, but they too often end up in trouble. Your full back being awol when needed is much akin to presenting a gift to a striker in or around the box by a misplaced pass. Re-engineering something that is fit for purpose doesn't always equal progress
Not a glimmer of hope to be had, time to give this guy his cards.
That’s not true though. There are glimmers of hope, as seen in here after Tuesday and half time, it’s that they aren’t seen consistently. Of course it will mean a decision may need to be made at some stage, but if there is a management change in the future it will be one which many would feel they wouldn’t like to have made.

In the end, results count.
A glimmer of hope would be a positive league result, of which we’ve had none this season and maybe only 5-6 this calendar year.
Quite feasibly we’ll be going into the Crawley (H) game still looking for our first points/win of the season

Jesus Christ you’re condescending, who on earth are you tell tell others where they should find hope?
Hope would be 3 points, minimum 1.
Days like this one weren't supposed to happen to Rochdale.

Not telling others at all, merely saying there have been glimmers of hope because there have. Make no mistake, I find it very glum and almost impossible to see how we find that display and result against Burton or the first half day today on a consistent basis.
Same mistake again. When will people realise he’s not good enough for league 2. Last season he got away with it due to 2 Sunday league teams being awful. After watching the Crewe game for 45 minutes it showed he’s well out of his depth. I can see us going into next home game with 0 points if we don’t make a change.
I like many others have been hoping that RS will succeed. He may be a nice fella, but he seems devoid of tactical ideas. I think this team he has assembled could possibly be the worst I have ever witnessed at the Dale in over 50 years. His signings are really poor. IF he goes we are still stuck with National league standard players. And he's pissed all the money up the wall, so whoever was to come in would have a monumental task to get this lot into some form of a winning team. I disagree with many when they say we have talent in the team. I dont get excited by anyone on there , perhaps Odoh , shows glimpses but then he messes it up . Hendo is a shadow of his former self. Rodney is a porr poor forward. Look at his record, he may be fast , but he wont score enough. Midfield is shocking. By the way Grimsby played in the same heat as us , but they carried on until the end. We dont seem to have any battlers or urgent players wanting to win. Look at that clown John taking corners strolling up instead of a bit of enthusiasm. If we go down , we will be lost forever. Only teams who have big cash injections get out of the National League now!.

If only Robbie had taken heed of the 71 page dossier painstakingly put together by a fan and signed the suggested first choice signings for each position.
Although at least they had suggestions for signings rather than just offering up insults for the recruitment

Like Grimsby?
When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?
