We're much more enterprising, and Newby's part of that, offering some threat as opposed to zilch

certainly did - he gave the ball away 6 times so they could nearly score; not cos he's rubbish but cos Charlton's pressing and physicality made lots of our players perform poorly - Humprhys, Lund & Rathbone in particular. The only one who came out with credit was Matty Done who had a really good cameo (despite the prejudice on here towards him & Dooley)

Another awful performance. Can't dress it up any other way. Too many players without a plan from the Manager.
Lund and Rathbone particularly poor today. Dooley not much better. EOC partially at fault for both their goals, although Osho also at fault for the first.

They'd have scored several more if they needed, and fully deserve the win.

Onto Tuesday at the fun factory. It feels like a chore to watch us at home...Lord knows how low the crowds would be if they were allowed. BBM would be down the road already if our team wasn't full of Irish players.

If the board are contemplating making a change it has to be now with the run of games we have coming up in the next few weeks.
They have to come out and publicly back him or make the change now.
Personally I would be surprised if they make a change having given him the window, but I think there are as many mistakes being made off the field as on the field.

Agree on Done, he played well. So many poor performances all over the pitch.

2-0 it may have been but that performance was as bad as gets. A decent team made to look like world beaters because of some absolutely abysmal individual performances. To say it was men against boys would be totally understating it. We were out thought ,out muscled and to be frankly out coached. We had no idea out to cope. To not switch wings with Baah when it was clear that they were going double up on him on the left side summed up the lack of imagination from the manager for me. Done worked hard when he came on and Vale's runs into space were promising but with no one capable of finding him rather fruitless.

I didn't see anything positive from Done either apart from throwing the ball back and pushing it out of play. But we all see the game differently. A poor show all round. I accept Charlton were great at stopping us play but our short passing and slow play at times gave them all the time they needed

Onto Tuesday night......can we switch it to their ground

It's the mindset and lack of energy that we take the pitch with at home, every single bloody time. The record is stuck, and it's shit to begin with

BBM more suited to a player recruitment role than first team coach. He wouldn't be in post now if crowds had any input at COA

Well Charlton were very good I thought and that's why they are where they are in the table. Next run of games is the real test for us.

Think we got the line up all wrong. Baah against a very hard working side and Roberts backing him up at left back. Adding to that I thought McLaughlin really struggled against there left sided player.

Completely lost the battle in midfield where we seemed overloaded, I think Newby playing instead of Baah would have helped this.

Only positives were that all the new players were on the bench and those that made an appearance looked like they had quality about them. It was also good to see us have a strong bench with plenty of options meaning we could if required use all the subs.

Really important now the the new players settle in quickly and we pick up some points against those teams around us.

I suspect the after match comments from BBM will be the same old rubbish,......'we were poor in the first half, but got into the game in the second........I feel sorry for the players after the effort in they put in.......they are developing as a team...........defensively we were not as good as we can be.............defensively we are getting better.

Or am I being cynical?

1 win at home all season is shocking and I do not expect to win at home anymore, even if we were playing a girls under 10 team. I have zero faith in BBM, his tactics and team selections.

Think BBM got his initial selection wrong- as others have said it's obvious that we were crying out this first half for Shaunessy to block the ball into their front 2. Charlton seem a very good team to be fair and have suffocated us for much of the game- we can't get out of our third and when we do they're giving niggling fouls which the referee hasn't punished.

Second half would look at bringing on Vale/ Grant for Dooley and having 2 playing off Lund if the wind carries on assisting us. Could also see Morley coming off.

Morley doesn't 'come off' most games - frustrating at free kicks, wastes the majority of them!

Some of the regulars need resting for Tuesday. Done/Keohane for Roberts, midfield was dreadful today, swap Dooley, Rathbone and Morley for Shaughnessy, Grant and Newby

Would say Tuesday is the most important game of BBM’s managerial career so far, he has been able to recruit more players (LB apart) and another loss at home against a relegation rival would be a massive blow. He has some big decisions to make.

I'd go for a more experienced side I think.

Done for Roberts
Newby for Baah

If Beesley is available maybe him instead of Rathbone or Dooley bring Lund into midfield.
