radio bolton. on 23:01 - Sep 5 by 49thseason | Wasn't someone going to do a Freedom of Information request for details of the BBC deal with Bolton. If such a deal exists, it is clearly against the BBCs impartiality code if they claim it doesnt exist, they need to answer the question why they continually air Notlob matches . Either way there is no hiding from the blatent unfairness.. I wrote and accused them of bias in favour of Notlob but never received even the decency of anything other than their proforma reply. promising a more detailed resonse needless to say nada has emerged but... covid... the new excuse for all crappy service. |
Yes. Me. I did submit one and was fobbed off as they said that particular arm is protected from certain FOI. I planned to go back with a different angle while also going to the ombudsman- but then the pandemic hit and my priorities changed. I may just pick this one up again, though. “The information you have requested is excluded from the Act because if held it would be held for the purposes of ‘journalism, art or literature.’ The BBC is therefore not obliged to provide this information to you and will not be doing so on this occasion.”

radio bolton. on 22:13 - Sep 5 by TVOS1907 | Jack Dearden didn't like being challenged the other day about why they were publicising a discussion segment on Bolton's 23 years at the Reebok/Macron in a way that suggested 23 years was some sort of milestone. |

radio bolton. on 21:58 - Sep 10 with 4752 views | Sandyman | Can you believe it... https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p08q8w5z Radio Bolton is broadcasting Live League Two coverage of Bolton Wanderers v Forest Green Rovers. 2 weeks out of two so far this season. Can see more complaints going in to the BBC and OFCOM about the blatant bias on offer to license payers in the region. Again.

Didn't it get a mention at the forum, where the payments are that small its hardly worth kicking up a fuss
radio bolton. on 09:26 - Sep 11 with 4497 views | mikehunt | Good. I hope that’s the case. And it is quite amusing to hear the outraged disbelief of the commentators as Noblot lose another game. The commentary versus us last season was a belter.

But it does give the club regular exposure that they are getting paid for. If they end up being the commentary game on a regular basis and it comes across the matches are exciting to watch. That could lead to more fans through the turnstiles.

radio bolton. on 19:25 - Sep 11 with 4289 views | EllDale | I asked the question about local radio paying for the privilege of covering matches many years ago, albeit in the context of rugby league. The argument was that they didn’t pay because there was no significant drop in attendances but they did provide a service for those supporters who couldn’t attend due to illness or work commitments. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Obviously a "relegation" battle, then. They hopefully have the chance to apply that to every game this season.

radio bolton. on 11:07 - Sep 15 with 3380 views | finberty | I stuck it out for just ten minutes on Saturday afternoon, finally killing it off just after 2.50. I really don’t know what I expected, but what I got was a debate about who would be promoted from L2. Dearden, predictably, had Bolton first, then Salford second. The Salford reporter had it the other way around. Dearden never ever draws a comparison between Bolton and the fate that befell Bury. His tone of voice always suggests a grievous wrong that has befallen his club, against which the mighty Wanderers, and Dearden along with them, will retaliate to prove the doubters (whoever they are) wrong. All this is delivered in the sage tones of an all-seeing, all-knowing deity. A Scottish voice then spoke up. I assume, but couldn't be bothered to await verification, that it was McGinlay. I could take no more, and pressed the off switch. Lesson learned. [Post edited 15 Sep 2020 11:11]

I’m not going to tune in, even if Dale are the commentary game.

radio bolton. on 13:54 - Sep 15 with 3097 views | EllDale | You'd think Jack Dearden would be an Oldham fan, living in Royton and with his brother having played for them. The ironic thing is that, along with Trevor Hunt, he's really good when he does rugby league commentaries on Radio Manchester. They cover several clubs and come across as impartial and knowledgeable.

Everything to do with that club is bellendery of the highest order.
radio bolton. on 15:29 - Sep 19 with 2608 views | James1980 | I see in the match thread for the game tomorrow. Portsmouth are referred to as promotion hopefuls. Considering we are likely to be in a relegation battle and the game is in the area and on a Sunday. Surely Dale v Pompey is going to have the Radio Bolton commentary team commentating on tomorrow's match.

Back in 2008 when we drew 1-1 at Bury (last away game, Le Fondre last minute pen), Iles had a page in their programme and was listed as “from the Bury Times”. It includes the following: “Quite a few Shakers argue that Bolton Wanderers are our true rivals, but I don’t buy that. Premier League, or even Championship football exists on a different plane nowadays and the main ingredient for any derby for me, is that both sides invest in it equally.” What a bizarre use of “our” if he now writes as if he’s a massive Bolton fan.
