It's not "marking space" though - you're still thinking in terms of marking. It's positioning to cut out potential channels through which the ball can be played, thus limiting options for the man in possession
Learning how to position yourself is a skill, and one which our young midfielders will be learning from Perkins. Watch the graphics during post-match analyses - this is something top class retired players bang on about time and again

Perkins has shown his worth in the two recent victories at home when he’s come on as a sub and helped us see games out. It’s been a basic requirement which many pointed to as a positive when he returned and on the evidence of those games he has illustrated he has a part to play in the squad.
However, his passing has been poor since pre-season and I’m really not sure why. It’s been some really basic balls too, not just those looking to progress the play. Add to that his choices when trying to shift the ball away from an opponent (when he knows himself that he’s not as quick as he was) are poor. However, these haven’t been an issue in those appearances from the bench when his positional play, calm head and experience are far more useful than passing or trying to beat men. |
agree - & more importantly perhaps, these haven't been an issue in those appearances when we're already winning | |

To have a different opinion, you first need to grasp what the other point of view entails, rather than blindly following the type of view that schoolboys are taught by their sports teacher in order to keep things dead simple for them | |

We all have opinions some same some different but I don`t try to force mine on others I allow people to have theirs I know I am not always right (no honest it`s true) whereas you seem to think you are right all the time and I have not resorted to insults .
