Give Washington a chance! on 10:43 - Jan 26 by rsonist | It is true about Gladwin to an extent, though he's never once played well for us there has been a weird intense spite there towards him. It's obviously bad and wrong and completely unhelpful but... to be honest... there is just something kind of dislikeable about him isn't there. Maybe it's the hair. |
Gladwin has got stick in every game he has played, was written off after a quiet debut against Cardiff at home. He has looked like a player who needs time and games to adapt at this level but he's never got them and when he has played he's usually been slated by fans and taken off after an hour. I don't think I'll ever understand the anger shown by some towards him at games, Did he ever reach double figures for us in terms of starts?

Give Washington a chance! on 13:57 - Jan 26 by NW10Hoop | Not mad on the term "playing to his strengths ". It's kind of down to him to force his way into the team, and have an impact wherever he plays. I've never given him a hard time and he's had far more of a grace period than some others, but if he can only play in a front 2 then he's pretty screwed. |
Weirdly harsh way of looking at it.... it's not like he's Fer or any other of the self-styled 10s we've had in recent years who only graced us with their participation when the stage was exactly to their liking. I'd agree he probably ought to be better at making a Mackie type nuisance of himself, but the facct still stands that we bought a classic little man striker barely out of non-league and are expecting him to figure out a new game for himself now.
Give Washington a chance! on 14:58 - Jan 26 with 1340 views | Northernr | I'd say the same thing back to Olly. Playing the lad up front alone at this level isn't giving him any chance at all. Play him with Sylla or don't play him.
Give Washington a chance! on 15:47 - Jan 26 with 1253 views | DejR_vu | Hang on a minute. He's telling the crowd that he had to lift Gladwin up off the floor? He played this team in the FA Cup Ingram Hall Onuoha Lynch Perch Wszolek Luongo Gladwin Bidwell Mackie Eze He then proceeded to tell the press that he had given fringe players a chance, they had let him down and they would never be picked again. Couldn't have been talking about the goalkeeper, seven are regulars since, and one was making his debut. That leaves Perch who was a regular and who he has been saying recently is a great professional and bloke. So that leaves Gladwin as the last man standing.

Wasn't really meant to be. There's no doubt he's puts the effort in and I think that's why he's had it relatively easy from the crowd. There's just better players to put out on the flanks, and if we're not gonna play in his favoured position, he's gonna have to have more of an impact wherever he's put. For his own sake I think he may have to move to a team that plays 2 up front
Give Washington a chance! on 16:50 - Jan 26 with 1146 views | Lblock | Here we go again - slagging ourselves off for being too demanding as a crowd. Total bull. Fans can see what's in front of them and react accordingly. Polter - limited in terms of skills but cut a lot of slag due to his work rate, desire and bagging a few goals (I never did hear the stuff said up at Birmingham which equals minority to me) Washington - see above but less the goals. It's still a transfer that mystifies me as ODH signed him after Charlie had gone but rarely played him then said "he needsh gamesh and time". Surely when we weren't going up or down last dozen games last season that was the time? Gladwin - sorry, just doesn't look a player at this level. Not yet anyway. People get on his case out of frustration not because they love to jump on players backs. The real frustration should be with who signed him (though I understand why) and who picks him to play Sorry for use of the all inclusive word "we" but I just don't go along with this myth that all QPR fans are inpatient no nothing idiots, there's some I admit, but they're mainly found over on Fantasy Island and very few in number

This doesn't apply to Washington who I think has had a very fair crack from the fans but every time you go off on your 'aren't QPR fans wonderful' one I'm going to post this. As a support base in the recent past we have: - Abused our own manager for his substitutions in a game we won 3-0 to such an extent that the opposition manager walked down the touchline during the game to put his arm round him as a gesture of solidarity. - Chanted 'off off off' when a referee went to book one of our own players. - Booed one of our own substitutes onto the pitch. - Booed our own team during a match they weren't losing at the time and didn't lose in the end. (Blackburn H this season) - Had two separate, highly regarded managers at this club say they had to get rid of a player (Warnock and Leigertwood, Holloway and Gladwin) because the crowd had turned on them to such an extent they couldn't be picked. - Started chanting the name of the reserve goalkeeper (Lee Camp), less than 15 minutes into the debut of his replacement (Radek Cerny) after a shaky start to the match.

WHO? WHEN? NEW ONE ON ME - Chanted 'off off off' when a referee went to book one of our own players. WHO? I WOULD HAZARD A GUESS IT WAS SOMEONE NOT PLAYING WELL OR TAKING THE CLUB FOR A RIDE... I MIGHT EVEN OF DONE THIS TOWARDS BOSWANKA AT READING AWAY A FEW YEARS BACK - Booed one of our own substitutes onto the pitch. THE WHOLE SUPPORT BASE WAS IT? DONT THINK SO. - Booed our own team during a match they weren't losing at the time and didn't lose in the end. (Blackburn H this season) THEY WERE PLAYING SHIT TO ODH's SHIT TACTICS. AGAIN IT WASN'T THE WHOLE CROWD - Had two separate, highly regarded managers at this club say they had to get rid of a player (Warnock and Leigertwood, Holloway and Gladwin) because the crowd had turned on them to such an extent they couldn't be picked. NOT POPULAR BECAUSE THEY SIMPLY WEREN'T UP TO IT - Started chanting the name of the reserve goalkeeper (Lee Camp), less than 15 minutes into the debut of his replacement (Radek Cerny) after a shaky start to the match YOU MEAN THE 50 OR SO FELLAS IN THE CORNER OF THE LOFT UPPER? RIGHTY HO! Do not tar me with the "our support base is a bunch of shocking prima-donnas" brush and I'd say that goes for 90% of the fans. When people bitch and moan at Loftus Road (with good cause 9 out of 10 times) it's more audible but that's due to the size of the ground. It certainly isn't the whole support base. When a few lads are obviously boozed and Class A charged up at away games it's not the whole away support. However reading some of the moaning on here and elsewhere you'd swear our support base is like some bastard merger of Millwall Thugs and Spurs Self Entitlement Brigade Carry on self flagellation by all means though.

WHO? WHEN? NEW ONE ON ME. No it's not, spoken about extensively at the time. Chris Ramsey, Karl Robinson, MK Dons H last season. WHO? I WOULD HAZARD A GUESS IT WAS SOMEONE NOT PLAYING WELL OR TAKING THE CLUB FOR A RIDE... I MIGHT EVEN OF DONE THIS TOWARDS BOSWANKA AT READING AWAY A FEW YEARS BACK Karl Henry. Just to clarify, are you saying that if somebody's having a bad game it's ok for his own crowd to chant for the referee to send him off? THE WHOLE SUPPORT BASE WAS IT? DONT THINK SO. A substantial portion of the crowd. THEY WERE PLAYING SHIT TO ODH's SHIT TACTICS. AGAIN IT WASN'T THE WHOLE CROWD It was a significant portion of the crowd. The point is, how does this help? Did they play any less sht because we booed them? NOT POPULAR BECAUSE THEY SIMPLY WEREN'T UP TO IT So abuse them to the point they can't be picked. Classy. And, again, supremely helpful. YOU MEAN THE 50 OR SO FELLAS IN THE CORNER OF THE LOFT UPPER? RIGHTY HO! No I don't. All of this is counter productive. All of it makes it harder for the players and managers to do their job. All of it makes it harder for us to win matches. None of it belongs on a Washington thread through, because as said people have been very patient with him.

Totally agree. Kid is played far too wide. He should be playing off the shoulder of Sylla, down the middle. Every time he gets the ball he has to drag it back inside. Pointless.

Bit harsh squire, I don't know what gets into his head on the pitch but he does marvellous in the Box Office where he's often on his own up at the front. [Post edited 26 Jan 2017 18:13]
