Polter on 11:53 - Aug 23 by Jamie | Should've been given the penalty. In all likelyhood he's our main striker in 10 days, could do with the confidence boost of his first league goal. As said all summer, I fancy him to be amazing for us. |
Helps with Austin's value the more goals he scores. Already top goal scorer. I think the penalty taker will be Chery once Austin goes. Polter done his bit winning the penalty.

Polter on 17:17 - Aug 23 with 2256 views | Bluce_Ree | Austin's not the best penalty taker we've ever had. Even that one yesterday seemed to be a 50/50 effort. That's to say that if the keeper had guessed the right way, he could have saved it. Austin would fit right into the England squad based on that. If you're going to take a penalty f*cking lash them in like Patrick Berger or pick out the top corner like Del Piero. Don't be one of these penalty c0cksuckers like Gerrard who just picks a side and hopes the keeper goes the other way.

Polter on 17:25 - Aug 23 with 2246 views | olderR | Never been convinced by Austin as a penalty taker. Take'em like Francis Lee. Smacked down the middle as hard as he could. Keepers used to dive out of the way to avoid injury.

Polter on 17:53 - Aug 23 with 2179 views | IrishR | Polter does have potential the sheer tenacity to win the penalty was great to see, 3 men on him at high balls also mentioned will draw space to others. What i dont get was some of the clowns in SAR giving it the "ole" when he was trying to get the ball and having a few chuckles. The fellas just arrived over, prob doesnt speak english and is trying hard to impress. Seems to care atleast and congratulating Charlie at half time after the goal, didnt see if he did with anyone else. Still a little raw and had to be told a few times to get under the goalkicks, once the Charlie situation is resolved i think he could shine.

I've seen people say this before - but it's pertinent to Austin's kick yesterday too. Helguson's penalties were not awful. They were fantastic - he is one of the best penalty takers I have ever seen. They don't make the keeper dive the wrong way - especially Heidar, they have the confidence and skill to wait *until* he has dived, then roll it the other way. The keeper yesterday made Charlie's mind up for him because he dived so early, but H had the skill and belief and balls to wait it out every time. If the keeper didn't move, he knew all he had to do was put it in the corner anyway, because there's no way he'd get to it, but the keeper will always go first. Against Chelsea in the 1-0 was the one time Heidar looked in trouble. Cech refused to move first and because it was Cech, and in a huge game, and at a key moment, it was a real battle of wills. In the end, H unusually put it high rather than rolling it along the ground and that was enough - just - to score. To say his penalties were 'awful' really is a bizarre viewpoint. Charlie's a very decent pen taker - he's missed two for us - one a superb save by the Hull keeper who'd done some great research on him and had discovered a 'tell' and one at the back end of last season. Think he's got maybe 8 out of 10 for us? I'll take that. He's not Le Tiss, but who is? Everyone misses the odd one.

Sure Helguson missed one at home to Wigan once, having scored one earlier in the same game.
