Gianni Paladini 19:45 - Jul 14 with 12981 viewsthehat

So we are going to get circa £9 million from the Sterling transfer from a clause Gianni ensured was part of the original deal - I've noticed Gianni can get a bit of bad press amongst the Rangers fans but no one can dispute the facts:

FACT - Gianni invested into the club and joined the board when we were in League 1 with a loan from a shady Panama corporation secured on the ground which was crippling us and we had buckets outside the ground collecting money from fans to try and keep us going - The future looked very bleak indeed.

FACT - Gianni left the club in the Premier league debt free with billionaire owners.

Like I say the facts are indisputable - Seems like he did a pretty good job from where I'm standing.

Rock on Gianni and thank you!!!!

There was, of course, an actual court case involving Gianni Paladini during his time at QPR. The men he accused were all found innocent and the judge called Paladini a liar.

Think he called him a liar 53 occasions to be honest .

Poll: which is your favouite foot

This message board used to be the best message board for QPR fans. But the fact is it has become a miserable, drab place over the last couple of years. The crap that gets written on here is unbelievable at times.

The fact is that the OP is 100% correct. So, instead of addressing the facts, the responses are all personal attacks and other kinds of abuse.

When GP took over we were in the third division; we were relying on the generosity of fans, ex-palayers (Lee Cook, Peter Crouch), and people like the Winstons. We were really close to oblivion. When he left, we were Premier league and debt free. End of story. True, he was a nightmare and the club was a mess, but somehow he was there when we muddled through it all. Deal with it, and give him credit for that much.

By the way, we were never anywhere near a points deduction. That was a story in the fckin Sun. Only a 6-year old believes anything written in the Sun.

By the way, another completely unpopular truth, that will no doubt have people calling me names, when Tango and Cash came in, we were in the second division and when they left we were in the Premiership. Were they terrible people? Yes. Am I delighted that the are gone? Yes. But they took us back to the Premiership and they deserve credit for that.

Also, although I like having Tony as Chairman, but the truth there is that when he bought into the club we were in the Premiership and debt free and now we are in the second division with loads of debt.

It is often said that football is a results game -- it doesn't matter how the goal is scored, they all count the same. Likewise with management. It doesn't matter how success came, management gets credit.

Gianni Paladini on 03:32 - Jul 15 with 2216 viewsBklynRanger

You're probably right, Dylan, about the OP's two facts.

Yes, we were in League 1 when he arrived and we were in the Premier League when he left.

Then the OP says Gianni 'did a pretty good job' - so that's an opinion - fair enough, we can all agree that it is an opinion, and you have that same opinion. Nothing more.

Both of you choose to shave off a lot of the context and attribute the bare circumstances of 'once we were in League 1 and later we were in the Premier League' to Palladini. That's your choice but it doesn't make you right and those who raise all of the other details wrong.

Wow wasn't expecting this reaction to my original post especially being accused of posting as someone else.

Maybe its because I don't post often but thought I would write my thoughts as I know Gianni can get a bit of bad press its interesting as most of the QPR fans I know (who also don't post on websites) also think he did a good job.

For me the best way to describe him is:

'Its better having him inside the tent spitting out rather than outside the tent spitting in'

Anyway thanks to his shrewd deal with Liverpool we are now £8.8 million to the better.

What was shrewd about it? It was a completely standard deal apart from getting next to fk all at the time for a player extremely highly rated by the club at a time we weren't desperate for money.

He gets bad press because he is a cancer on football clubs.

A convicted liar, an incompetent football administrator and, most of all, a snide slimey cnt.

In the same post you seem to be giving both paladini and briatore credit for the promotion despite ishan saksena and amit bhatia running the show for the 18 months before promotion yet say management gets credit .

The logic being applied in this thread seems to suggest that credit can be passed onto the predecessors, for the action of their successor. In that case can I be first to congratulate Bill Power for cunningly letting paladini perform a boardroom coup.

It must've taken a fair while to write a post so far off the mark.

We were never debt free. Paladini was long since marginalised by the time we won promotion and I can only imagine you never read the Faurlin report.

I also believe it was Bill Power on the pitch, as Chairman, celebrating at Hillsborough. Perhaps my eyes were deceiving me.

Still let's credit Gianni. Why not? While we're at it, why not credit him for signing Sir Les and tempting Tricky Trev down to Loftus Rd. It's about as accurate as some of the nonsense being spouted by some on this thread.

Sorry Dylan but the op is not 100% correct.

When he left we were in massive debt, to say anything else is laughable, the debt is even bigger now but he can hardly take credit for it.

We were very near a points deduction, only David Pleats belief that one player didn't make a difference was the only reason we got off a points deduction, we were found guilty on some of the charges and given a record fine for a football league club. We got away with that one, he was not a finer details kind of guy and anyone who read the report on Faurlin gate will know what a pigs ear Paladini had of that whole thing.

The main thing Paladini did in his time was to sell the soul of the club getting rid of QPR people from the club and it's something we've never recovered from. He split the fan base getting some fans on side with freebies and perks and anyone who questioned him was usually banned from the club or given ridiculous abuse on message boards.

He was supposed to be director of football but put together one of the most poorly funded youth set ups in the country and a feeble scouting network so we only relief on agents to sign players, something we are only now starting to put right.

To say Tango and Cash took us to the Prem is laughable, things only improved when they took a back seat and let Amit and Ishan take over.

I could go on but it's bringing back bad memories

He was a bloody disaster at QPR and putting in a sell on clause when we sold Sterling changes none of that, he did the same with Dean Parrett and it's a pretty standard clause to put in when you sell a young kid for peanuts.

I think Nick Blackburn was chairman back then, Bill took over the following year although I could be wrong on that. Paladini was on the pitch at Hillsbrough as if he was the owner but was a shareholder at the time
