I'm due a tax refund for the last financial year but I'm not completely sure how to go about it. Does anyone have any experience with this? I've tried calling HMRC's 'help'line countless times only to be cut off. It doesn't make a difference what time I call them. I live in Brecon and the tax offices have closed. I've noticed a few agencies who claim to do all the legwork for you but they take a hefty chunk of what you're due so I'm reluctant to use one of these. Does anyone have any advice on how I should go about this? It's frustrating to say the least!
That was the first thing I did. It says you need to contact HMRC before filling in a form so you know exactly what information you need. The only problem is that it's impossible to get hold of them.
my son had 3 different "zero hours" jobs on the go and was due a tax refund on two of them. He rang the inland revenue and they gave him a refund. You would need your national insurance number to hand and a payslip I reckon. some links: https://www.gov.uk/claim-tax-refund/overview
If you can fill the unforgiving minute.
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
