Seems to be all but esconsed but what do you think?

Birmingham was almost as bad as us with a financial embargo imposed by the League. Seems odd that he'd want to come to a club with a self-imposed embargo.

Did a decent enough job at Huddersfield but hasn't exactly pulled up trees since.

I'm reserving judgement. Certainly not going to be against from the off. Not his fault Oyston is still in place.

You're right that none of us know what has gone on, but 5 managers in 2 seasons all with the same issues and all with the same end result tells me where the problem lies. As I've asked you before, tell me where the gain was for Riga to act up almost immediately. It's damn hard to answer that question. The answer to the question 'what did karl have to gain in appointing a manager who was deemed as a popular choice when season tickets weren't selling?' is pretty easy to answer. We're this the first time we'd ever had this situation, I'd be willing to accept that there's a debate to be had. But I'll revisit the point; 5 managers in 2 seasons. Soon to be 6. It's not about portraying good v evil, it's about recognising that the problem doesn't lie with someone wanting to pay a player in euros or to a Greek bank account.

I'm not demanding you see it my way, I'm just telling you that the way you see it is quite clearly wrong when it comes to establishing why we find ourselves in this position once more. Perhaps that's arrogant of me, but in this case I don't know what else is worth saying.

SATW - Whilst you point out to Robbie that he needs to take a step back and see the wider picture and that the blame is with the owners, if you then take another step back to see things from an even wider angle, is it not the case that our fanbase is simply too small and fickle for anyone that owns Blackpool FC to financially out-perform rival clubs, the size of which we find in the top two leagues, in the long term?

Across the last 30 years, we have always had small gates in each league we've played in compared to rival clubs at the same level except in Division Four. Norwich, Leicester and Wolves have recently gone down to League One and 20,000 fans stayed with the club and they bounced back up. We are likely to go back to 7,000 next season.

Can any owner of Blackpool FC, be that the current owners, Val or a fans group ever be able to run it long term by trying to outspend the competition?

The Seasiders had plenty of fans-both home and away-wanting to go to BR when they were in the PL,where by rights they could have easily managed a three or four year stint. Look how Swansea have done with a similar core fanbase and where they've built that up.

The average attendance in the PL season was over 15k and clearly the stadium wasnt big enough, where the opportunity was lost to make the people of the town really consider their Saturday afternoon options.
Its ok looking back 30 years but the thing to have done was to look forward say ten years, and made a fortnightly trip to BR a habit.

Far too many people lacked ambition where the 'impossible dream' was within touching distance.

Real fans go to pubs like the HITW or the Welly

Robbie, so you don't think Koko would be that cynical do you? To appoint a manager to sell a few season tickets, to squeeze a few more pounds out of the supporters?
Well I'm sorry but in my opinion I do think he would be that cynical.
Don't forget Riga won a Gazette poll as fans' first choice. So obviously quite a few of the fans had heard of him.
His Charlton team demolished us at the end of last season remember.
Koko is the man who has consistently told lie after lie after lie at season ticket renewal time, year after year after year.
He is lower than a snake's balls.

This is the man who has caused untold damage to the football club we all love.
And he's continuing to cause more and more damage. His list of gaffs and blunders increases up almost daily.
You might want to see the best in him, and not to believe he could be that cynical.
Fine that's your choice.
My opinion is I wouldn't trust him one bit and the only time he isn't lying is when his blundering mouth is shut.
If you can't see by now what an utter liability he is to BFC, well I'm staggered to be honest.
I sincerely wish Lee Clark all the luck in the world. It's not his fault that he's coming in to such a toxic atmosphere. He should get the full backing of every single fan in my opinion.
That toxic atmosphere is the fault of one man, and one man only.
And it's not Lee Clark.

Well said Rusty2Stands,

I most definitely purchased my double season ticket on the back of 'The Riga Revolution'.

I think that 'a reasonable man/lady' would of expected that 'The Riga Revolution' might also of consisted of having 11 players and 7 substitutes at Nottingham Forest for the first match of the season!

'The Riga Revolution' was a push for the Premier League / being a top Championship side.
Division 1 here we come. £195.30 for a season ticket for the 2015-16 season? If Pool are relegated to Division 1, Mr Oyston will not be able to sell season tickets for £19.53, never mind £195.30.

'The king is dead, long live the King' Mr Riga

The new King and the gladiators have my support as I watch from the West Stand. However 30% of the 2014-15 season has gone and Pool have 6 points.

It isn't Mr Riga's fault. I can't for the life of me think whose fault it is?

Pool were lucky 2013-14. Someone paid for Pool fans to go to Wigan and suck the ball into the net. Pool were lucky!

Are we going to be lucky 2014-15. I wonder?

Good luck to the new King, It might not even be Lee Clark, he doesn't appear to of signed on the dotted line yet. The new man will have Pool fans backing. But will he have the backing of you know who? Mr Riga didn't.

Lala,

Was that response to me? Don't worry, I can take it!
Were you not disappointed that Pool could not field 7 substitutes on the opening day of the 2014-15 season?

I have no answers and desire to see Championship Football at Bloomfield Road 2015-16.
Good luck to Mr Lee Clark, I will be watching from the West Stand.

So far Pool have 6 points from 14 games (30-31% of the season gone).
I genuinely feel sorry for Mr Riga - he wasn't given a chance, but I think he meant business when he arrived in the summer.

Good luck Mr Lee Clark.
How do you see it Lala?

I see he's already branded collaborator Clark elsewhere.

Get a grip people. The club needs a manager and it's not his fault that the troubles lie elsewhere.

What do these people want? No managerial appointment at all? What planet do they live on?

Football first is clearly wrong. Oyston consumes their every waking moment.

Lala,

I don't like to be an arrogant so-and-so, but in this particuar topic I know I'm right. The proof is there for all to see. In fact, I put a post up around Feb time with a predictive time line of how things would play out. Wish I'd bookmarked it (or wish I knew how to bookmark) as i've been proven correct on it all; including certain supporters responses....

Superhands,

You're citing attendances and historical size as a factor here, but it's a complete red herring. First of all, I don't think anyone expects the club to be a regular in the PL or even a regular in the play off spots. I don't recall the vast majority ever stating thus. However, people have seen a vast influx of cash into the club that has been removed to support other Oyston businesses and the club has regressed almost to the point where we are back where we started.

The opportunity was there to build on the success Ollie and VB brought to the club AND the town. A hotel that doesn't contribute, but drains from the club and a larger temporary stand that was compulsory because of PL regulations and is already becoming a concern for the 'authorities' is not a legacy. Actual, REAL, measured progress would have sufficed. And that didn't need to mean always looking for promotion.

We're now seeing crowds dwindling despite bargain basement prices. Yet another lost generation on the way and done so at a time when Fleetwood are providing a genuine threat to what should have been part of the Blackpool catchment area. All caused by at best incompetence and at worst total negligence.

We got Bogdanovic, Oyston got very rich

One of the players who brought that wealth says that the legacy he wants to see is a fit for purpose training ground. I agree with Brett.

I get the feeling that Lee Clark is just pleased to get a job and would work out of a portaloo if it meant he got back in the game!!
