Mostly Cardiff? You're joking right?

Apart from the Caewern lot and one or two stragglers up the Cimla, we were all Jacks. The only ones i knew that turned were some of the skewen boys, and one of the Grant's either Price or Watkins, can't remember which now, oh and Derricks, and maybe Floydy. Lambourne had mates in both camps.

You never used to bother with us lot, apart from getting on the same train as us for the night games (Mayo, Spitz, Mugger, Dopey Bri, Williams, Pigeon etc etc. As you say later in the thread, you used to knock around with the Swansea boys.

We certainly weren't bullied by them, it swung in roundabouts, sometimes the numbers would be with us and they'd have it, other days it would be the other way around. Every weekend without fail up the Abbey or the Arch, some poor f*cker would end up with an hiding, sometimes whilst playing for the local football team on a Saturday/Sunday as well.

Albert Kelly is sound again now. Albert, Gilly, Cracker et al came to the party later than us, they joined in when the non football trouble kicked off between the Melin boys and the skewen/caewern lot

Ian Derricks the round headed turnip I quite liked him until he got contaminated and Dai Floyd.I don't think Lambourne was too interested in the football, thankfully.Strong boy him and the one lad around Neath I wouldn't like to cross.

Derrick's and Floydy were both tidy in fairness, Derricks could look after himself too. Lambourne came down the Vetch a few times with us but football wasn't for him. I've never seen anyone who is as proficient at knocking people out with either hand as him, and i'm talking about when he was 15/16 against grown men sometimes.

I want a mate like Flashberryjacks, who wears a Barnsley jersey with "Swans are my second team" on the back.

I played rugby with and against him and he looked about 30 when he was 14.I don't think there was many in Port Talbot and Neath who could handle him mate.Does he still work the doors?

I haven't seen him for about 20 years, i think he's got a good job with the council and is something with Pontrhydyfen Rugby club these days.

Sorry, I don't follow that.Or do you mean bust up? If so I don't believe that as Fullman and Neath Punk would torture them down the Bear in town and they jumped ship. Can't remember them falling out with any Jacks??

We went into Caewern and had a run in with fullman etc.
They bottled and that was the last we sort of heard from them

I was on holiday in Poros at the time and caught the ferry to Athens then on to the game.

Remember around 100 greek fans attacked a taverna with jacks in and local police just stood back and watched until the jacks fought back then got broken up by the police. Another bar near the market area was also attacked by greek fans then Police escorted swans fans to the match.

About 100 of us including J.V.S were aged between 16 and 30 were met off the plane by armed police, some boys with previous football banning orders were put on one bus and were called "special guests" by the police and the rest on another bus and took us off to Glafada where we stayed in 2 hotels in a holiday resort on the ouskirts of Athens it was coming to the end of the holiday season so we stuck out like a sore thumb and anyone who was there must admit we did play up the 2 nights before the game and had skirmishes with the locals and fairplay pretty much all stuck together,we were sh'gging all the bar maids in the Sussex bar 1&2,Mollys,The Ship and the DISCO above it (Cobwebs I think it was called?) and lording it around the resort

The day of the game we had a police escort to the stadium and it took us hours to get there driving past all the Greeks giving us the cut throat gesture, the police escort even crashed into each other at one stage on route. We arrived late and I remember seeing loads of green & red flares being let off and the whole crowd bouncing up and down.

The night of the trouble you could tell something wasn't right as by now anyone who wasn't a Jack had had enough of us,The Ship got attacked from all angles as most of the Swansea fans were in there and the rest of us Swansea fans run out of other bars to join them, then it just went bonkers it was just a sea of people attacking the bar and a wall of bottles, glasses and bricks being thrown up onto the glass canopy so the glass would come crashing down.

Then when the Police turned up they stormed into us and one by one dragged us on the riot bus smack us over the head with truncheons and Greeks still giving us sly digs

The Police took some of us to the hospital and we were fighting with Greek fans at the hospital and a few of them took a hiding and were running calling for the Police.

When we came out of the hospital there were camera crews every where and people running up to us and spitting in our faces

Then back to the Police station and put in this big room (maybe the police canteen) as there were so many of us and then started bringing in random people who were just pointing at the biggest, oldest and most covered in blood of us and thats how they got banged, the whole court room was totally bollox

Martin Morgan wasn't there and it was Dougie Sharpe who stumped up the rest of the money for the boys

It wasn't just Greeks who attacked us it was Yank sailors as there was a big war ship in Athens at the time as you could see the American MP's walking around the night before

I wasn't at the away leg, but I know people who were. And I know three of those who were in that bar.
The story they told me was scary. One (no names) said they were fighting for their lives while the police stood back.
He told me at one point they were ramming through the windows on motorbikes/scooters.and they all had knives. The number of Greeks outside varies, anything from 100-400 and even more.
When the police finally took over, they let all the Greeks go but arrested all the jacks, beat the crap out of them, stole their valuables.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

I remember a night probably 92, when trying to light a fag he set a guys naff naff bomber jacket on fire by accident. Bloody whole place was evacuated! anyway lost touch with him years ago, would love to know what became of that header.

Danced with you eh? I was probably p!ss£d!! Actually, it's not probably, we were out all night before the game, caught the train over from Nice, where we were staying.

Monaco was a great trip, I went down there by D coach, the one that didn't break down.

Very hot and very drunk all day, mentioned elsewhere on here that Mark Kendall now sadly departed had a mare that day in goal. Silly UEFA ruling on players who could play cost us.

Not that we were ever going to win the tie mind.

The away leg involved a bunch of greek blokes attacking swans fans in a Taverna and then once the greeks had been beaten off the Swans fans were arrested. My mate Porky was over there and he was saying that the police were terrifiying, threatening them with allsorts, including arse banditry.

The home leg was a good game and I just remember chaos after the game with thousands of Swans fans trying to get to the Greek fans in the carpark by the Quadrant.

Brilliant lad Howey was back in the day, he was The Happy Mondays Bezz of Morriston

One of the main lads in the 1980's early 90's when Morriston had a good bunch of lads who would regularly take a mini bus from the Lamb & Flag back when Morriston was a good proper place for a p'ss up

Drugs got a grip of him I think he is still in Monkey Town somewhere last I seen him was in ASDA in Morriston about 4 years ago with a big old fireman's jacket on stuffed with pinched meat and chatting away as if it was the most casual thing ever

I remember him outside the Queens one day for a Cardiff game and the police just pulled up in a van and snatched him off the street because he had a warrant out for his arrest...

Few of my mates got caught out In Greece. I didn't travel as missus at the time was 7 months preggers at the time.

Went to Monaco though, great trip (in the coach that did break down) 400 Jacks out there around 75% of them mullered!

Conga throughout 2nd half was top notch.

Howie, great lad, chatted with him around 9 months ago in town, still promising to give me my ICF video back!

Great days, great memories, lifetime friends.

68 swans fans arrested ?
Some stabbed.
Some spent days in jail ?

Headline national news. Headlines. Nationally, UK.

Martin Morgan and co put cash up to get them outta jail, £800 a piece in some cases.

Nah, pretty routine ;-)

It happened.

Sorry, I haven't seen him in years. As 1983 was saying he was well into his drugs and was always off it. He's a great good natured lad.
