" I guess in four or five years, the new generation's music will be .. electronics, tapes. I can kind of envision .. maybe one person .. with a lot of machines, tapes, and electronics setups, singin or speaking .. and using machines " James Douglas Morrison | 1969
Just sat down for the first time today and read this. Have caught him recently in Man Down which I think was his last outing, loved him from the early days and he also narrated The Grim Tales so watched that with the children. Such sad news
The New Statesman is still my fave ever TV comedy. Pure gutted. At least half my good gags are stolen from him.
Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. He runs like a cheetah, his crosses couldn't be sweeter. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore.
'If word gets out I'm missing, five hundred girls will kill themselves, and I wouldnt want them on my conscience, not when they ought to be on my face!'
I can honestly say I can't think of any other comedy actor who made me laugh like Rik, everything he did was hilarious. Did any of you see Grim Tales, the jackanory type story telling for kids - Rik style? The guy was completely amazing and in another league from everyone else.
I am really gutted by this news, such a waste but thank you Rik for making such an impression in your short lifetime.
I don't think that anybody can under-estimate the groundbreaking effect that the Young Ones had on British television comedy, it really was a major departure from the norm of those days and even now seems up to date. A pure comic genius and may he rest laughing as loud as he can.
funny how only the other day i started a thread about the worst comedians going and rik was no where near the list the new statemans was genius and so a head of its time , brilliant sunday night viewing hopefully the beeb and itv put a proper tribute up for the fella
And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot
That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles
Brian Moore
That's terrible news really can't believe it as he was so young.
Just reading through this thread it shows he had a real quality the body of work.
Loved the young ones, Blackadder and Comic strip,
I totally forgot the New Statesman ,but it was spot on about the topic and still relevant now - even more so with todays MP's.
Disco, that Mr Jolly lives next door was well funny, I've always hoped they'd repeat it. Nicolas Parson's and the music at beggining was the Samba remix of Tom Jones It's not Unusual. Both him and Adrian Edmonson were brilliant in that.
I remember years ago me and my girlfriend watching one of the Bottom ! (not Dangerous Bros my minds gone) live video's and having the people downstairs banging on the ceiling cos we were laughing so much.
