Saints In Pole Position For Transfer Say The Rumour Mill

According to the latest stories on the media rumour mill, Saints are in pole position to sign a Premier League player who spent last year on loan in the Championship, find out here whether its Manchester United or Wolverhampton Wanderers that we are about to do business with.

Saints are being linked with a lot of players including James Garner of Manchester United who spent the last campaign with Nottingham Forest in their promotion push from the Championship.

But it is not Garner who Saints are said to be in pole position for, that honour falls to Morgan- Gibbs -White who spent the season just gone on loan at Sheffield United from his parent club Wolverhampton Wanderers, having spent half of the previous season at Swansea City.

His time in Wales was not good, he started just 4 games plus another as sub in his spell there although he was out for three months with a fractured foot, before being recalled by Wolves in January 2021.

His time at Sheffield United was more profitable and he was a key member of their side last season in the Championship, starting 33 games plus another 2 off the bench plus another two games in their play off semi finals that ended in ultimate defeat.

He scored 11 goals in the League plus another 1 in the play offs and also had 9 assists.

But it seems that his future does not lie at Molyneux and with the Blades failing to get promotion it is unlikely he would go back there.

At 22 he needs to be getting game time, at Wolves he has played 66 games in the Premier League, but 53 of them have been off the bench.

An attacking midfielder who during his career has always played in the centre of the park rather than the having the ability to play out wide, he is in essence an attacking player who sits in front of a defensive midfield duo or sits behind a loan striker.

Either way it would seem if Gibb-White signs then it is likely to see a change of tactic for Ralph Hasenhuttl.

So called reliable sources say that Saints are in the pole position to sign the player and are willing to meet Wolves valuation of £20 million.

Whether that turns out to be the case we will soon find out, but it does give us an indication as to where Ralph's thinking is for next season.
