After a disastrous week Middlesbrough were knocked out of the FA Cup following a 2-1 defeat to Brentford.
Despite Sam Folarin giving the Teessiders a route back into the game after the break it wasn't enough as the Bees dominated possession and ultimately saw off the threat of Neil Warnock's side.
But given the makeshift side that took to the field it's hard to be anything less than proud.
Here's how we rated the Middlesbrough players.
Jordan Archer — 6
Put in a decent display on his debut for the club. Perhaps could have done better for Brentford's second.
Djed Spence — 6
Provided a decent threat going forward down the right flank but struggled when tracking back and marking his man. Unlikely to have convinced Neil Warnock that he's a better option than Anfernee Dijksteel.
Nathan Wood — 7
A really composed display from the defender. Put in a solid performance, was fast and strong and showed that he has an excellent eye for a pass. Deserves more of an opportunity moving forward.
Marc Bola — 7
The stand-in skipper put in a strong display in a central role. Swept up play well and largely did well in an unnatural role.
Hayden Coulson —6
Caused plenty of problems going forward but struggled defensively. Responsible for losing Dervisoglu for Brentford's opener.
Hayden Hackney — 8
A really good all-round display for the debutant. Tackled well, worked incredibly hard and looked very composed in the middle of the park. He even managed to get himself into goalscoring positions - something that nearly paid off. Certainly someone who has given Neil Warnock something to think about.
Lewis Wing —6
Put in a decent display in midfield. Sometimes struggles to provide the intensity that is needed to put the opponent under pressure.
Marcus Tavernier —7
Another strong display from Tav. Caused plenty of problems coming inside from the right flank and looked like a constant threat. Has really found his feet in recent weeks.
Patrick Roberts —6
A bit rusty after a lack of match action and so drifted in and out of the game. Provided a couple of moments of quality but not enough to give Neil Warnock any real selection dilemmas moving forward.
Marcus Browne —6
Caused plenty of problems off the left flank and went close to getting a goal. Taken off with a nasty-looking injury late on in the game — something that’s a real sickener based on his impact in recent weeks.
Chuba Akpom —6.
Led the line well. Held up play well and moved with intelligence to create space for the likes of Browne, Tavernier and Roberts around him.
Substitutes.
Sam Folarin -7
Made an immediate impact after converting from close-range early in the second half. Caused lots of problems with his pace and direct nature
Rumarn Burrell -N/A
Not the field long enough but great to get a glimpse of a young player with a lot to offer in the coming years.
Isaiah Jones -N/A
A late change but showed good intent by cutting onto his right foot and curling an effort over the bar.
Bonkers for Boro aims to provide a unique offering of Middlesbrough content unlike anything else online.
