Hey criticise me all you like; but I just hate injustice. After The Rams had left the KC stadium last night having lost 2-1 to Hull City the injustice started.
Gareth Roberts was the target for those who want scapegoats for everything.
Last night Roberts was up against Ahmed Elmohamady, the Egyptian lad, the Tigers number 27. Gareth had their full back and midfielder to cope with too. Our number three had little help from Craig Bryson in defending cover. When Roberts had the ball there was no "option" to pass it either.
We could have had the best left back in the world appearing for us and we still would have made him look rubbish.
Roberts isn't the best in our division even but he's doesn't deserve the vitriol that's poured over him IMO.
Will Hughes last night had his worst game I've ever seen him have, passes to the Hull players more often than ours, caught in possession etc. etc.
Adam Legzdins was time wasting from the first goal kick much to the ire of the home fans. "Boring Boring Derby" and we were despite playing 4-4-2 from the off. Heck even I would have booked him, that or booted him up the bum and told him to get on with it. The referee didn’t, he issused yellow cards for other trivial matters and let far more go.
When the Lino’s flag for more free kicks than the ref gives it’s a bad day at the office for all concerned.
We, the Rams however, aimed for nil at half time and our aspirations were met.
Second half they scored (another Egyptian, Gedo, making his debut at half time). We eventually rumbled into life a bit like a mammoth awakening from the ice, slow, no pace but capable of doing damage if you got in it's way.
We had three good chances of equalizing generally against the run of play.
Michael Jacobs came on for Conor Sammon, we still played 4-4-2 with Jacobs as a striker; which was a total waste of time.
Clough then switched.
He brought on Theo Robinson thirty minutes after the fans had first called for him. Freeman went off. We changed to 3-5-2.
We scored, Jamie Ward a good goal after Bryson for the only time in the match got to the byeline and produced an excellent cross.
Drawing, it was the steal of the century.
Clough took off Paul Coutts surely proving either Nigel's planning on having Will's babies or the other way round. Jake Buxton comes on we change to 4-6-0 which is great for a steam train but football and the Rams?
No!.
Their number 27 scores.
Roberts gets sent off for a stamp.
We lose.
Traipsing out we despair. It's not the despair of the loss; it's the hope that gets you in the end.
"We've Only Brought 300. We're Louder Than You".
