It does my head in that only 12 games of decent form has everyone circling around your assets. Often it is the blend and balance of a team at a certain time that makes players look good. They then piss off and stagnate somewhere a bit higher up on the food chain.
Jimmy Dunne has his limitations but would be a total hero if he spent the rest of his playing days with us. Just not how it works anymore. He will get paid a bit more and be another journeyman championship player with a brief spell in or around the Premier.
Same with Marti.....we are 10th in the Championship and everyone wants a piece of him.
The lack of patience and loyalty makes it hard to love professional football these days.
He had a few injuries and no real consistency in the team. Seemed a bit off it when he came in the team. Another one that Marti's trust really seems to have settled. Now playing to his full potential and is a senior pro in the team. It wasn't long ago that Cook and JCS seemed like our only option. Well done Foxy. Keep it up.
There was a moment when Ashby got free and instead of squaring it to Alfie he spaffed it into the stands. Alfie lost his sh it and Ashby didn't apologise or even look at him. There is a kind of arrogance to how he plays....like the kid who is quite good but hogs it and gives it away and is really annoying to play with.
I would like to see us go up. As long as we do the opposite of what we did last time and stick with Marti and loads of young talent with some old pros.
The quality at the bottom end of the Premier isn't great either....there would be other recently promoted teams and a couple of teams that are imploding. Look at Forest....you only need things to gel and it can go well.
It's nice to be wondering what might happen looking up rather than looking down.
Handball was unlucky buy got caught down that side again. Gashby is a liability. Shame because we could have made a game of it. Surely too much to do now.
I was going to post about Ainsworth. Nice he has another club and there doesn't seem to be hard feelings with us in either direction. It's easy to forget where we were with him in Oct 23. Thank heavens we have Marti now though. I like Mackie, he pundits as he played.
Now that it's finished. I can say that I really enjoyed that. Made loads of chances. Some were wasteful and some were unlucky. Our second was lucky. But you make your luck. My thoughts.... - Morgan is MOTM and is a real talent. Mature performance and amazing engine and balance. - Frey was a real handful and Alfie continued where he left off. - Field was class. Total committment and a leader in Cook's absence. - Great having Chair back as the ball sticks up top so much more with him around. Doesn't feel like it's all on his shoulders any more. - Defence got away with a few but also threw themselves in front of everything. - Marti was really classy when we were bottom and is classy now. That says a lot. - Lots of nice shots of our older players talking about tactics and having a laugh with the younger lands. Also says a lot. - Marti got just about everything right today. Formation was good and subs effective. - Could have lost that. Look at what confidence does. Luton were dangerous but lacking confidence.
Anyway....well played everyone and doesn't Loftus Roads look and sound great on nights like these.
What is the plan here. We are 30m too deep. Can't keep the ball. No midfield. Feels like they have more players than us. We have no options and they have at least 3.
