Do we really need another thread? There are two or more already. What is the obsession (for anyone) to constantly open new threads when one, or more, already exist? |

Yeah, it's a difficult one. Say we won at Leicester and got two draws in those League games, we'd be on 34 points and possibly 17th (on a worse GD than the others on 34). That's four places about the drop zone. Two defeats and we'd be on 32 points and still 17th but closer points-wise to the bottom three and both Plymouth & Hull closer to us too. They weren't just two wins, they were almost "6 pointers". We go to Man U, lose (most likely despite how rubbish they are in the PL), and then it's a slog until the end of the season whilst nervously looking over our shoulder. We're currently 12 places above the drop and we still have a decent buffer now down to the lower positions which is probably the better place to be considering the awful first few months of the season. edit: if our league results this season has been a bit more stable and evenly spread across all the games rather than fk all for months then promotion form, I'd probably feel the same and sacrifice points at Plymouth & Hull for the trip to Man U. However, it concerns me that a few injuries again & dip in form and we're back down that rabbit hole again so I think I'll take where we are for now. [Post edited 22 Jan 18:17]

I wasn't happy with the result but as we've won both our League games since, and both away too, I'm feeling a bit better but we'll never know if the Leagues games were won because of the rotation or not. |

My son plays youth football (U10's at the moment) and I'm now seeing boys in other teams who I find out are at Brentford, Fulham, QPR, Chelsea, Portsmouth etc. Academy's. Cocky little fukkers each and every one. 10 years old and strutting around in their full length team winter coats like they are gods gift. Thing is, 99.9999% of them don't progress. Fragile ego's about to be shattered in a few years. We have one boy in our team who's not at an academy but also plays for the local Elite team which is the best of the best boys in the area. He's a good kid and he's not cocky but he's starting to fall into the trap that he thinks he's more than he is. Rather than just playing it simple, he's constantly doing all the fancy schit like trying to drag the ball back and turn around and past the player. Works some of the time but the rest he loses possession. Has on a couple of occasions cost us a goal. Not good enough and utterly frustrating. On Sunday he was playing centre mid and whilst his defending duties were fine, his forward passing & distribution was awful. He should be bossing each game but all he did was punt it upfield and hope one of our other lads up front would get it. I'm really trying not to be biased here but I don't know why my son hasn't been picked up, he went to two trial sessions for the same Elite team and was easily as good as everyone else there. Thing is, he does do the simply stuff. He's quite direct and orthodox and just wants to play the game and get it done, which he does. Multiple end of season team awards is testament to this. None of this street skilllzzzz schit that looks good on youtube but doesn't actually work in a game itself. As I was watching the trial sessions all the coaches were asking the kids to do is tippy-tappy ball between feet stuff. In the two one hour sessions at no point were the lads put into two teams (enough boys for 7-8 a side) and told to play a 10 minute game and assess how each boys does in a real world environment. I guess they know what they are doing but seems to me they are not out to produce footballers, they are out to produce a conveyor belt of 'product' that can be sold for £££. |

Also same here! Micro-managing the schit out of everything because the seniors are schit scared of things going wrong (well, boo-hoo, that's what you get paid the big bucks for) so no one is allowed or trusted to just get on with it (although I have a feeling I am 'cos I've been there for years and can actually do the job but doesn't stop me from having to go along with the micro-managing). Everything has to be logged and accounted for and put on sharepoint spreadsheets and the same duplicated on other systems/platforms. Such an utter waste of time and resource. Despite having the denomination '25', these would all have to have been developed and put together last year so they're always out of date on release. With consoles in particular being linked to the internet, I'm surprised they can't be patch updated maybe twice a year with the team changes but maybe that's just too costly and time consuming for the developer/publisher to do. |

I have about half-a-dozen multiple attended zoom meetings each week (half of those with people in Germany, Czech Republic etc). It's not that bad with the aforementioned countries as we're all a bit more disciplined in how the meeting flows, but it feels to me with the internal company calls these days everything (zooms calls, emails etc) is decision by committee (ten million people getting "looped in" on every fkin email) as no one wants to make a decision themselves about anything for fear of accountability even if it is in fact their job to actually make a fking decision. Everything gets deferred to someone else who never responds and I'm forever following up with my people to find out if we have an answer on something. [Post edited 20 Jan 15:03]

I doubt agents are there to (even if they suggest otherwise) ensure the well being of their client in the sense of finding the club that is best for them and most likely to provide the best opportunities of regular first team football and as much on-field success as possible. They're out to get the best ££ they can. I doubt they give a schit if the player is on the bench or not. [Post edited 20 Jan 14:00]

Manager signs lucrative 2 1/2 year contract. Two months later said Manager slags off the team. Team downs tools, results get even worse, manager gets sacked. £££$$$kerrrchiiinnngg. Clever. |

Would be funny if Man Utd and Tottenham went down naturally and Man City got forcefully relegated. However, would soon wear off as the Championship turns into the SPL for one season and with the three of them all breaking the divisional points record and seeing who comes out top. Ronaldo on €3m a week. Contract expires end of season and looking to re-sign. Been banging in the goals but the team still 3rd and 12 points off the lead at the halfway stage. |

To a degree yes but I think they have to listen too and maybe realise that occasionally another option might actually be better. If they choose to carry on with their own direction that's fine, but don't be surprised if it all goes pete tong. |

Seems like doing a Chelsea by spreading cost over a long contract but I thought it was limited for 5 years? Unless that only applies to a new signing. World has gone bonkers. I remember when we talked out £50k a week being utterly insane (which it was and still is). Now the likes of £100k/200k/500k are being banded around like it's small change. |

Yeah, at some point I guess a decision has to be made either way. Worked OK for Smyth, just hope it turns out OK for Kelman. |
