If you've ever watched moneyball you'll know they used a system in MLB which can predict how much more likely your team will get results with/without certain players in it. Don't get me wrong, could be used for Gambling purposes, but given Montagues role it's much more likely it's being used to hypothetically for modelling results for teams to look at "what if we had this player or that player". |

I understand your point. However how many times has "individual "errors" cost us? Last night we were the home team playing against an average SW riddled with injuries off the back of a decent hard fought win against Bristol. Yet we played like a team who had travelled to Carlisle on the last day of the season already relegated. For 75 minutes there was no energy, no drive, no desire to try and rip SW apart. A individual mistake doesn't cost you so much when you've already scored (or capable of scoring) 2-3 goals, but we were so shockingly bad all over the pitch you can't put the loss down to one player. Yes players need to take account for their performances, but I see very little motivation or enthusiasm from LW in the dug out either to berrate or try to inspire the players. If you look back at my previous posts I always give our managers support and the benefit of the doubt, but LW has to go (he should have gone after Norwich at the latest IMO). I won't be attending a game in person again until someone else is in. I just hope when I do return it'll be to watch Championship football and not League 1 which is where we are currently heading. |

Could be of course that Coleman has brought Montague in to do the independent assessment and do the firing of the manager and hiring of his successor. |

4-5 points off the bottom three should just about do it, so we're probably talking by the end of Feb I suspect. |

There's no (very little) loyalty in Football. Yes they have a connection, but as soon as we went calling with a better opportunity Williams left Montague in the lurch at Notts County. As soon a Montague seen this level of performances Williams is orchestrating and we continue to slip closer to the bottom three the trigger will be pulled. Even DOF's aren't exempt from wage reductions in their contracts when relegation is confirmed. Question of when, not If. |

We're 17th in the league as it stands tonight. We've won one game in 9. We are heading in the wrong direction with this manager. First half of the season he was inconsistent, but picked up enough points to calm the nerves. Now he's consistently bad. At best he's incompetent, at worst given his recent behaviour, comments in the media and bizarre selection/tactics, he's being insubordinate to get an early pay off and go join his mate Russ Martin on a golf course and beach somewhere. This simply can't continue. |

I disagree on this showing. At least he's looked like he cares and is having a bit of a go. Poor cross into the box from the free kick but other than that he looks to have added some energy at least. If we had 3 players with his attitude from the start it might have been a different outcome tonight. |

I'll take him at Swansea next season but only if he brings Halland with him. |

There's one thing him getting another offer, him signing it is another question. It Will possibly depend if Williams (or his replacement) is likely to play 2 or 3 CB's next year? If 3 then there's a case that we would need to retain Darling and Sign Delcroix to play alongside Cabango. Also need another for cover (unless Naughton stays on) someone in the Low camp perhaps who I suspect will have lower wage demands. |

With Pederson, Grimes, and Darling all off the books by next season there should be a lot more money in the coffers to bring in quality players who make us better. I'd rather have 2/3 higher earners (if they deserve it) who improve the team than 5-6 signings for the sake of it. |

I can't envisage too many changes unless enforced. SW could be there for the taking and it's a home fixture we should be looking for maximum points. Not the time to tinker, test or rest when we're just a few successive losses away from falling into the relegation battle. |

He's not the Messiah. He's a very naughty boy! |

I didn't mind the employing him, he was successful lower down in the leagues and had potential. Mistake has been not sacking him in Late December early January when he's been (a) found out and (B) clearly was touting WBA with a cone and get me plea |
![](/images/avatars/0.gif) | Forum Reply | Matt Grimes : An in-depth look into the reasons why ? at 12:55 5 Feb 2025
He wouldn't have needed to. He wouldn't have needed to come out and say anything negative. But the fact he's chosen to say something a sportive as he believes he's the right man for the job does cause confusion. Unless he truly means it (which contradicts the article and our thoughts) He'd have been better saying absolutely nothing in relation to the manager and just wishing the Swans every success for the future. |

Boycott and hold a (peaceful) protest outside the stadium. Make sure sky sports news are invited. That should do the trick |

Hugely frustrated this morning. This has been the worst window for us in living memory. I'm not saying we should buy for buying sake, but it is quite obvious we are struggling on the field and needed fresh faces and reinforcements in. We end up selling Grimes (rightly IMO) but then only bring in 1 additional to replace? What have the scouting department been doing for the last 6 months. People go on about January... That's the month where you can COMPLETE deals. There is nothing stopping us as a club scouting and negotiating with clubs/agents in September onwards to get players in the door early January. Yes there are P&S limitations to take into play, but the transfer window, coupled with his unremarkable confidence in Williams It really does reek of someone incapable of running a club and I am now officially worried. We've all been wondering what the circumstances are with Grimes going... I'm now starting to seriously think it was him asking what signings are coming to come in and improve us followed by a response of "none". In which case who blames him for saying enough is enough and I'm offski. [Post edited 4 Feb 13:10]
